1. Walkthrough overview

Welcome to the Game is a horror/puzzle game where the player has to find keys to the Red Room. The in-game description of the Red Room is "A hidden service on the Deep Web to see and participate in interactive torture and murder."

Welcome to the Game was made by Reflect Studios and was released on June 15th, 2016.

If you're looking to get all of the achievements in the least amount of times, playing optimally you could do it in two runs (three possible endings, but the game awards you with an achievement before erasing your save). That's the run count if you are a master at this game and can instantly avoid the threats. Joking aside, the game time for all achievements is 10-15 hours. The semi-random nature of the game is accounted in the 5 hour difference, but can still vary. Welcome to the Game features 11 base game achievements and 0 DLC achievements (the DLC is just the hacking mini-games from the base game).

With the announcement of "Welcome to the Game 2" it's time we all get achievements on the first game.

2. General game information and hints

The game can be quite challenging with evading The Kidnapper, The Breather and the constant hacking while also trying to find keys. Helping you get the 100%, here are some general information about the various aspects of the game and some tips for each one of them.

It's recommended to complete the tutorial at the start of the game. You get an achievement and the basic training of the games mechanics.

Codes:

There are 8 codes you need to find. 2 on each of the deep wikis, 1 that's on one of the three deep wikis (the random code is always number 7), and the last one is on "The Gatekeeper" website.

Some codes are already visible on the website, while some codes require you to click on a certain word or image for them to appear on the site (some codes appear on the desktop).

X - yyyy (X is the order of the code, yyyy is the 4 numbers of the code)

Finding codes has been made easier by the developer. Every time you load up a new page keep looking at the loading bar. If the loading bar stays for a second longer the website has a code.

You have 30 in game days to find the red room (you will most likely be caught before this ever happens).

The Kidnapper:

While intimidating at first, he quickly becomes a nuisance. The kidnapper starts being active after a couple of days, sometimes taking 6-7 days before showing up for the first time.

The kidnapper has sound cues announcing his arrival. He can be heard closing the doors of his van, or walking around the house. If you hear these cues, turn around and turn off the lights.

After the kidnapper pulls up with the van, there is still a period before he targets you. Just be on the lookout for the location services icon on your monitor. The location services arrow will appear on the top right of the in-game monitor. If you see that icon, turn around, switch off the lights and let the kidnapper walk on by. After this encounter, the arrow will no longer appear and the kidnapper will just show up.

He gets into the house through the window. If you're busy on the computer, he waits a while for you to look away before taking you, but if you're taking too long he turns you himself. After checking the door when the kidnapper is close triggers a sequence where he steps in front of you in the doorway. When visiting "The Pedo Handbook" clicking on the enter button makes him show up instantly, giving you a game over.

The Breather:

The newly added character has some interesting mechanics. He will begin calling you a couple days into the game. It's safe to let him talk after answering, he will hang up on his own (I don't know if talking to him longer leads to him finding you quicker). After a while he stops calling and that can be a sign of him getting to your house so be sure to check the door once in a while. He can be heard walking up the steps to your door. If you hear him, go to the door (funnily, he's seen walking up to the door, even though that's what you heard).

If he is at the door, you have 2 options. First you can hold the doorknob (left mouse) and not let him see you (takes longer), or you can look at him, making him spot you, and brace the door (left mouse) while he tries to kick it in (shorter, but riskier).

If he gets inside he either runs in and kills you instantly or waits for you to turn around.

The Hackers:

While not a character, the hackers attacking your computer deserve a mention.

Getting hacked is a random event, the longer you are on the deep web the more frequent the hacking becomes. This can be avoided by resetting your modem (while resetting you are unable to move, so reset only when not in danger).

"The Gatekeeper" website hacks you if you fail to answer a question correctly (I believe this is the only instance where getting hacked is not a random event).

There are three types of attacks:

• Dos Attack - The signal moves in the direction of the arrows, and you have to rotate specific arrows to allow the signal to get to the end
• V.A.P.E Attack - You have to divide the blocks so none of them are touching on the sides
• Kernel Attack - You have to re-type the various lines of code on the screen

Failing to defend yourself from the hackers results in losing days and can also erase your notes. If your notes get erased, I suggest restarting.

Tips:

• When starting a new game always complete "Chosen awake", "Claffis" and "The Gatekeeper" websites first.
• If you want some breathing room from all the distractions (killers and hackers) click the icon on the top right of the screen. Click yes to save and after being brought to the main menu, click continue to resume the game. This skips a day, but delays the killers for a short amount of time (location services still don't show up after the first time)
• If you want to avoid the risk of losing your notes, you could use a pen and paper ;)
• Not all noises are a threat. Some of the risk-free noises are: typing, chair moving, a light bump on the table

3. Chosen Awake

Solving "Chosen Awake"

Chosen Awake is a website on the Deep Web Wiki I. It's always open and can be solved at any time. Solving the website riddle awards the player with the Deep Web Wiki II link.

The puzzle is divided into groups, clicking the correct spot in each group shows you the link. Clicking the incorrect one brings you back to the beginning and resets the puzzle (same spots can be clicked again).

4. Claffis

Solving the "Claffis" website:

This website is a simple Simon says type minigame and upon winning the player is given the Deep Web Wiki III link.

The game has only one round. Starting the game shows the player 6 notes in a row that they have to play back to win.

IMPROVER

Solving "Claffis" on the first try grants the achievement IMPROVER

Note: The area between the red lines starts the minigame. The areas between the cyan lines are the notes the player has to play back.

5. The Gatekeeper

Solving "The Gatekeeper" website:

The Gatekeeper is on The Deep Web Wiki III. Entering the website prompts the player with a question relating to the other deep web websites. The player must answer 5 questions after which they are rewarded with the 8th code. Failing to answer the question correctly displays the message "You're in the wrong place, kid..." and hacks the player.

Beating the game in seven days grants the achievement DEEP WEB OUTLAW

Solve "Chosen Awake" and "Claffis" first, answer the questions on "The Gatekeeper" then go from the Deep Web Wiki III, back through to the Deep Web Wiki I. That way you the 8th code first.

DEEP EXPLORER

Visit all active deep web sites.

Visiting all the active sites on the deep web grants the achievement DEEP EXPLORER

This is gained from just playing the game a lot, but just refer to the site list if you can't find a site.

IMPROVER

Solve Claffis on the first try.

Solving "Claffis" on the first try grants the achievement IMPROVER

If you don't get it this time, there will be more opportunities to try again. :)

THE CLOUD CHASER

Get to master level of the CloudGrid tool.

Beating the master level of the V.A.P.E hack grants the achievement THE CLOUD CHASER

Failing the quiz on "The Gatekeeper" instantly hacks you.

THE DENIER

Get to master level of the DOS_BLOCKER tool.

Beating the master level of the DOS hack grants the achievement THE DENIER

Failing the quiz on "The Gatekeeper" instantly hacks you.

After finding the 8 codes and imputing them as a .ann address, you are prompted to either enter or leave. Entering the site shows a feed of a man getting tortured.

WHO AM I

Make it to the Who Am I secret ending.

Getting the first secret ending grants the achievement WHO AM I

To get this achievement you have to find the 4 additional even more secret codes. When getting the codes, a different sound is heard than usual and a notepad file gets created on the desktop with the name "N1.txt", "N2.txt", "N3.txt" or "N4.txt".

WHERE AM I

Make it to the Where Am I secret ending.

Getting the second secret ending grants the achievement WHERE AM I

This achievement is given before you're prompted to break free. Failing to break free allows you to continue your save allowing you to theoretically get the Who Am I achievement in the same run.
