Description

Cross Set is a sudoku-like puzzle where the objective is to make sure digits appear only once horizontally and vertically in the grid. The tweak is that the available digits for each cell are limited and displayed. Your job is thus to cycle through the digits in the cells, use logic and right-click the cells you're sure you've solved until you've completed the level.

Pros

+ Tweak on sudoku making it fresh again
+ Good difficulty curve through levels
+ Decent amount of content for the price, especially when factoring in the bonus levels

Cons

- Color scheme and contrasted background might hurt your eyes (they sure made my vision blurry)
- Some levels are exceptionally difficult and a bit frustrating
- Missed opportunity for an easier mode where the game would warn you when you make mistakes

Verdict

If you're a sudoku or a puzzle game addict, Cross Set will probably be worth your while, especially on sale. But do stare at a screenshot long enough to make sure it will not be as visually uncomfortable for you as it was for me.
