This is now obtainable. To do this, right click on your Age of Empire II: HD Edition in your Steam Library and click on Properties. Navigate to the "Betas" tab, select "open-beta - Open Beta - Patch 5.1" from the drop-down menu and then launch the game.

Winning any game or scenario will then unlock the achievement.

Appartently I got this 4 days ago by simply only starting up the game. Not sure why it unlocked. I only booted to the main menu for my steam trading cards, idled in the main menu for a couple of hours and quit te game. I never played a game, nor did I opt into any beta.

Sadly it doesn’t seem to work now since only Open Beta patch 5.8 is available. I tried with that, but no luck.
