I like Monster Mop Up a lot, and had a lot of fun playing it, but it is so buggy. I'm heartbroken in that way, and I hope some patches will fix things and make it just better, as it has so much potential and the Ragamuffins are so cute! It has no missable achievements, but some of them don't work correctly at the moment.

Approximate time to 100%: Around 10 to 15 hours
Estimated achievement difficulty: 1/10
Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1, but you will have to repeat levels to earn enough coins
Is there a good guide available: You don't need a guide
Multiplayer achievements: No, but you can play the game in multiplayer and farming coins that way is quicker than in singleplayer
Missable achievements: No
Grinding Achievements: Yes, getting enough coins is grindy
DLC-Only achievements: No
Speedrun achievements: Kinda yes, for one achievement you have to finish a level in under 20 minutes but that isn't that hard
Time-gated achievements: No
RNG-achievements: No
Does difficulty affect achievements: No difficulty setting
Unobtainable/glitched achievements: Yes, a lot of achievements don't work properly, and after the patch, just before the launch, the achievement "Daydreaming" seems to be completely bugged
Gamepad or mouse and keyboard: Both has pros and cons. I played with a controller

I'm so torn while writing this review. On one hand, this game is awesome, I had so much fun, and it has so much potential. On the other hand... it is so so buggy that it isn't possible to really look past that.

Let's start with what I like about Monster Mop Up. I enjoy cleaning in games, and Monster Mop Up is no different. You catch cute creatures. Clean their poop and then mop the rest of the house. The houses have different layouts, and you will find interesting items during those cleaning sessions. Nothing you interact with, but it is still funny to spot. I especially loved the small mouse furniture on one specific level. I feel like there was enough attention paid to the details of each house and the layout of each house. And also the little Ragamuffins you catch. There are a bunch of different ones, but they are all so cute.

Another thing I love is how you find skills inside levels and also spend your reward from the missions on skills, expansions for your house, and furniture. If you want to, you can decorate your own home with a bunch of furniture. The upgrades feel meaningful; you feel a difference when your mop gets less dirty or cleans a bigger area.

But then the bugs..... it is heartbreaking how many bugs Monster Mop Up has on launch. In single-player, it was okayish, but in multiplayer, the number of bugs increases significantly. Poops can disappear and keep you from getting the S rank, players can get stuck in levels, and you have to restart the level (in multiplayer, you can't save and reload). Once you both interact with an item, most of the time, the other person can't interact with it anymore. Running into each other makes you drop the item you're holding.

And this list does not yet include the achievements. A lot of them are also buggy. I got the achievement to capture a sleeping Ragamuffin because I did it in the patch before the launch, but in the patch on launch day, it seems that one completely broke. Others, you might be able to get in single player by just saving and restarting the game before finishing the level or doing the action you need to do.

There are several achievements for earning and spending money. Those seem to unlock later than the achievements say. Farming for money is easier in multiplayer, as all players will get the full reward while you share the tasks you need to do. However, always spend your money before joining multiplayer or saving and restarting, as it can delete your money. I lost 1500 coins that way. There is also an achievement to buy every furniture item in your house, but no way to track it. So choose a method that works for you to keep track of those. I bought them category by category and wrote down where I was. The friend with whom I played coop used the "all category" and brought from most expensive to least expensive.

None of the achievements are missable, which is good news for when the bugs are fixed. You won't need a guide, and it is just all about having fun. As I said already at the beginning of the review, I did enjoy Monster Mop Up, even with the many bugs, but I can see how frustrating it is and that it might taint the experience too much.

I give Monster Mop Up 3 out of 5 stars. This rating is more like 4 out of 5 when the bugs are fixed.
