Minecraft Dungeons was one of my favourite games of 2020, the year it released.

To say, ‘I played the hell out of it,’ would be an understatement, as I have put in over 365 hours on Xbox.

As a player of vanilla Minecraft for 10+ years now, the mix of the familiar and new additions to the Minecraft Universe are both delightful and refreshing. I love all the new worlds to explore and mobs to encounter.
I also adore the vibe and the fact that once you know the story and what you’re doing, it is a perfect game to chill to a podcast with.

I’ve continuously enjoyed it over the years and was very much looking forward to starting the game over again via Steam and earn all 104 achievements I had previously earned on Xbox, once more.

Unfortunately, the second I started the game on the Squid Coast (the tutorial level); the achievements started to come in, all 104 of them! I was stunned and a bit upset to be perfectly honest.

Apparently when you have your Xbox/Microsoft account linked with Steam, this happens because it has crossplay enabled and saves everything you’ve previously done in the game (this is what I’ve heard from a handful of people who described it as a bug that shouldn’t have happened but I haven’t found any further info, so I can’t 100% confirm).
Upon further inspection, I was even able to use my old saves/characters.

I am all for crossplay but I don’t think saves and ESPECIALLY achievements should carry over.

I’m still having a great time replaying the game, already sunk a few hours into it and will probably put many more in over the years but as someone who enjoys achievement hunting, this is a shame.

Also, unlocking everything that took me 300+ hours to unlock on Xbox in 5 minutes, was kind of disheartening. :D
