Pick up literally everything, from hair dryers to lawn chairs to shotguns. Everything that isn't food in the world of Dead Rising is a weapon of some sort. If you don't need the item, simply drop it again or pick up another item. You'll also thank yourself for doing this when you need to craft a new combo weapon.
