You can get this achievement right at the beginning of the game, go to the Item Shop in Scuttle Town and buy the Map of Sequin Land with the gems you collected from the monster ambush, you need 20 gems.
Buying the map is extremely necessary so you don't get lost in the game, so don't buy anything before the map.
