The little yellow thing is your "helper". It runs .... floats around and collects coins. You pick up the crystal by pressing E and place it by pressing 3. The dev(s) are color-blind because the "grey slime" is the little pink one.
So run up to the crystal and press E to pick it up. Run to the bottom left and set it down. Click your mouse near it to have the Gray Slime run over and both will fire on the enemies.
Once your helper has collected 10 coins, you'll get the option to pick an upgrade. Whatever you do, every single time, ALWAYS pick the speed upgrade for it. If you don't pick that speed upgrade, you've already lost the game. Try to help it collect coins early on.
Once it has collected 15 more coins, select the level 4 beacon. I selected it and proceeded to run around with it, using it as my personal defense system for round 2. I put the Gray Slime near the top and it, alongside the level 4 tower took care of business.
At 20 coins, I selected the level 3 tower. This is where things got really hectic, as I often lost on rounds 2 - 4, so I don't remember exactly how I did this. But generally, try to avoid the monsters that follow you, and move your towers and Gray Slime around as needed.
At some point, I had to heal, but I also selected the ability for the player to be able to attack as my next upgrade. Beyond that, I healed a second time and the towers did such a good job of obliterating everything, I just healed a second time just because I could.
I failed this mission for the better part of 44 minutes. The Guardian upgrade is alright but slow to move around and follow you. The hero speed buff is pretty useless here. The different towers all have ups and downs, it seems. It seems to be the higher the level, the more powerful they are, but the lesser their attack range will be. Hence why I went for the level 3 and 4 towers, as the level 2 tower failed me numerous times. As did the attack speed upgrades.
