The drinking contest has a pretty low chance of triggering. However, you can speed things up using the following recipe:
1. Create an easy Campaign with "Restart expedition" on-failure.
2. Choose the Big Game Hunger (since it has favorable dice for the drinking contest).
3. Play through the first map. It should take only a minute. Try to buy one or two weapons to equip.
4. After the first map, recruit a trek member.
5. Buy a trek member from one of the clubs.
6. Choose Start expedition and choose a club.
7. If the Paris event isn't the drinking contest, choose "Abandon expedition". Repeat step 6 eight more times (with a different map and a different club combination).
8. If none of the 9 Paris events is the drinking contest, start over from step 1.
