THIS ACHIEVEMENT CAN BE DONE WITH THE "PLAYING DOCTOR" ACHIEVEMENT.
Farming Plague Samples:
- Farm an epic ass-ton of Plague Buster (200-300+). Use your radio to find Bloater locations on cooldown. To speed the cooldown up, fill up all of your outpost slots with 3-4 of the Signal Booster outposts. These show up as binoculars on the map, but not every Survey Point is a Signal Booster so you'll need to pay attention to more than just the icon. There's 1 in Spencer's Mill and I think there are 3 in Marshall City. These decrease the cooldown, and I'm pretty sure they stack. If you're doing a bunch of radio calls in a row, it was very common that the Bloaters would respawn right next to me at the same area I was just at. This really cut down the time it took to accumulate tons of Plague Buster.
- Create a bunch of Fireworks.
- Go to a Plague Wall. Your Character should be Isaac. This is because he is a pathologist and gets an increased Plague Sample drop rate. Your follower can be anyone.
- Inventory: Have a high capacity magazine gun (100 rounds or more), a few pain killers, and both of your characters should have inventories full of Plague Buster and Firecrackers.
- Throw one Fire Cracker, then throw one Plague Buster at the wall. Do not kill the wall.
- Assuming you do this on the Fourth Wall (the last one) the first segment wave will spawn tons of zombies and always spawn a Juggernaut every time you throw a Plague Buster at the wall and make the Wall vulnerable to damage. The Juggernaut will drop 2-4 Samples every time you kill it, and everything else is just bonus. Killing the Juggernaut quickly by using 2 Plague Busters then melee executing it will make you have to burn through more mats, but this is the fastest way.
- Rinse repeat until out of Plague Buster. You'll want at least 3 Plague Buster and one Firecracker per wave. Firecrackers only cost 10 parts to make and the Fabricator shop can make parts basically for free, so you shouldn't ever run out of Firecrackers.. The limiting thing here will be Plague Buster, which isn't that hard to get.
Using this method, in about 15 minutes I can get 80-100 Plague Samples. This obviously doesn't take into account the time to farm Plague Buster.
Farming Meds:
- Use the Radio Call for finding meds. The increased cooldown from stacking Signal Boosters will allow you to farm them faster than converting all of your outposts to medical outposts, so just keep them as Signal Boosters.
- You'll want to farm all of the Poison Glands first since you can hold an infinite amount of those, then farm meds and samples after.
- Use your Infirmary to Produce Meds on cooldown, until you run out of Cases of Chemicals.
- Note that if you're low on ammo and you're using your Bomb Lab to Produce Ammo, that also uses Cases of Chemicals.
Using the Plague Cure:
- Fill both your main character's and your follower's inventory with Plague Cure. Use the DEFAULT Plague Cure. Enhanced Plague Cure will not work for the achievement apparently, and you wouldn't want to use that anyway because it grants immunity to the plague. Use only DEFAULT Plague Cure.
-Go back to the Plague Wall, don't worry you're not going to be killing it.
- Once you're at the Plague Wall, all you're going to do is walk forward on whichever character you're controlling and enter the "soup" pool in front of the wall. This will give you a little infection, but you won't take any damage. Then instantly swap to the other person and give them the cure.
- If you're doing both Heal Thyself AND Playing Doctor together, you'll want to get infected on both your main character AND your follower, giving yourself the cure and then your follower, then rinse repeat.
- Do this until you run out of Plague Cure. You may need to exit the Gauntlet.
