You want to rush to sector 8 without using any Artemis missiles, teleportation bombs or anything else that uses a missile (I assume that healing bombs are also a no-no). I had little difficulty getting to sector 8 using the Second ship, with the Assault drone and ion blast, once i upgraded it to add a laser gun and level 2 shield.
