Every weapon kill earns you XP with that weapon type, in addition to the regular XP. Use one weapon type until you reach level ten with it. This should come naturally on your way to level 50 with a character. I think this is easiest with assault rifles, pistols, or SMGs. Pick one and use it almost exclusively to earn this achievement early.
