Be patient. it takes a lot of trial and error to get through each stage. you die in 1 hit, you have no power ups, and a smaller hitbox. in some cases though having a smaller hitbox can provide useful. just check out this guide done by blistered prints.
its going to take a while. i recommend doing a level a day, that way your taking breaks.
