Holding onto the Tarr for this long will most likely knock your character out. I found this easiest to do by creating a Tarr by simply shooting a different plort at a largo, and then just sucking it onto the end of the gun. Ensure you don't have anything in your inventory, and if you do happen to collect things you need, return them to your ranch before attempting this, just to be on the safe side.
