Steam's Deleted Achievements Have Now Been Handled On TrueSteam Achievements!

By TrueSteam,
Ho ho ho!

In the run up to Christmas, we're delighted to be able to deliver you the one development that has been requested more than any other in our forums - a way for us to handle achievements that have been removed from games on Steam.

Leaving them "in the system" meant that many games became impossible to complete, and while the Game Info team have tried various creative ways to resolve this (such as moving them into DLC packs), it really needed some proper development time from the dev team to be handled properly.

Solution to the deleted achievements problem

We've been working hard on a solution and began to roll it out this week. We've so far flagged 2239 achievements across 267 games as having been deleted.

How does this affect game pages?

Games that have deleted achievements will now have that information shown to you in the Game Information panel (see this example from Goat Simulator:

The deleted achievement itself has now been removed from the statistics for the game:

How does this affect completions?

This now means that if you have all the achievements excluding the deleted ones you will now have a completion for the game!

What about if I have unlocked one of the deleted achievements?

These achievements are shown differently in your My Achievements page:

And clicking through the achievement page itself shows you that the achievement has been removed from steam:

Note: These achievements no longer count in your stats. We could conceivably show them somewhere, but for now they are left out of your totals.

TrueSteam Achievements in 2017

It's now been a year since we took TSA out of Beta. The community has grown considerably in that time and we'll be the first to admit that we have not been close to delivering the amount of new features as we have wanted to during 2016.

Many of you will know that we also run the Xbox site TrueAchievements, and unfortunately that site has taken the vast majority of our development time this year.

However, we have made plans to devote a considerable percentage of our development time in 2017 to TrueSteam - hopefully we can bring you the Steam achievements site you all richly deserve!

Have a wonderful festive period and we'll be back with some new features in the New Year!
