Football Manager 2016: S1E2: Alphabetti Premier LeaguePermalink
Introduction

Yesterday I announced that I would be doing a series of 'experimental' games of Football Manager 2016. For more information on that, please see here:
S1E1: Alphabetti Premier League

Predictions

I asked people to make various predictions about what might happen over the course of the season. Comments in the last blog suggested that anything could happen, as predictions differed from person to person. One thing that most people agreed with was that Team WXYZ would probably do quite well due to their well-rounded team.

The only player predictions was that Harry Kane might be top goalscorer for the season, though I'm unsure if he'll get the service he's used to now that he is in Team K.

Prior to starting the season, I had a look at the odds in-game. Here are the teams ranked in terms of their likelihood of winning the league according to the game. It looks like it might be a tight battle between those three teams at the top, whilst Teams PQ, N and E are expected to struggle.

Note: Please ignore the club badges. I didn't bother to remove club IDs, logos, kits, etc.

End of August 2015

I have holidayed until the start of September, so let's see what the first month brought us. August doesn't have many games, but teams generally play a few friendlies and experiment with their starting XIs.

Before I get started on results, several teams have sent players out on loan (to teams outside of the division due to the transfer bans). One particular loan signing made me smile a bit. You'll see why...

We'll get started with the league, which looks like this...

Team S are the only team with a 100% record from the first four games; two points ahead of Team M and Team B. Team S also have the best defensive record (2 conceded), whilst Team M and Team D have both scored 9 goals from their four games.

At the other end of the table, Team E are the only team to lose all four of their games. Perhaps surprisingly, the team in 19th is Team WXYZ; one of the favourites from the blog comments yesterday. An interesting point to note is that Team G, sitting in mid-table has tied in all games so far.

A brief look at player stats shows the following...

Samir Nasir (Team N), Mario Ballotelli (Team B) and Diego Costa (annoyingly Team D) have each scored four goals in their first four games. However, none of these appear in the top category for POTM or Average Rating.

Juan Mata (Team M), joint top of the Average Rating chart, won the Player of the Month category, with Eden Hazard (Team HI) and James McCarthy (also Team M) following him in 2nd and 3rd.

To finished with this weeks round up, let's take a look at two interesting games from the month. Both games ended 4-1; one a thrashing by Team M against Team A; and the other a big win for Team R away to blog favourites Team WXYZ.

Well, well, well?

So, what did you think of that month of activity?

Is there anything you would like to me to add to next month?

Is there anything you would like to see in more detail?

Does anything above surprise you?

TUNE IN TOMORROW (OR SOON AFTER)

Tomorrow we will go through September to see how teams may react to their poor starts (ahem Team WXYZ). Some teams also have Champions League games, but I won't focus on them, as those teams did not qualify on merit.

Cheers,

Drabik
