4. The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Episode 1 | Ties that bind | Part 1

The story begins with a long cinematic that takes place shortly before the outbreak as two brothers, Javi and David, reunite after Javi's unexplained absence.

After a couple more dialogue choices, Javi and company are headed down the road in a van.
A long conversation between Javi and David's wife Kate ensues until they reach a salvage yard and the chapter ends.

Javi, Kate and Kate's two stepkids, Gabe and Mariana enter the salvage yard. A walker approaches and Javi puts it down in an easy 3 button not-that-quick time event. You even get a crowbar as an added bonus. Brooding teenager Gabe wanders off into the yard and after a brief conversation, we have control over Javi for the first time.

You can ignore the barrels, school bus, soiled mattress and all the other junk and proceed further into the yard and to the left to find two blue cars to siphon gas from. The left one has a walker hiding under it that's dealt with in a single cn_LSd blow. Head past these cars to siphon more gas from a rusty old truck. You have enough gas to leave now if you want Head right past the large tires and green shipping container to find a ladder in the rear of the yard. Looking at it, then interacting with it again will prompt a choice to climb it or not.

If you want to talk with Kate or Mariana and haven't yet, do so now, but otherwise go ahead and climb the ladder, as Gabe comes along with you. Siphon gas from the ambulance, prying off the cap by holding cn_A and then cn_LSd. While the fuel siphons, head to the left to draw out a walker that can be killed with a single button press. The nearby trailer door is locked and can't be pried open, but a peek through the window reveals a floor hatch. Move the wood by the stairs and enter the hole it was covering, then crawl to the hatch and enter the well-stocked trailer.

Poke around a bit until you're faced with a major decision: Side with the kids and stay the night, or side with Kate and get back on the road. I chose to stay the night, which results in a conversation with Kate. While retrieving the gas can...

The chapter ends with Javi being knocked unconscious.

Javi awakes in a truck with his hands tied. After a couple of dialogue choices, it crashes (in true TWD fashion) and Javi escapes with a gun. You're presented with a major decision: whether or not to shoot the driver. I chose to hold my fire, which resulted in his escape...

You're soon presented with another major choice (to give away the van or not) but your answer doesn't seem to matter. Either way, the chapter ends after a few dialogue choices.

Chapter 4 begins with

cooly dispatching a walker as Javi is led down the highway. A conversation ensues as the two of you evade walkers and head towards a walled compound. Dodge a walker with cn_LSl, then aim with cn_RS and take the walkers down with cn_RT once they're in your sights. Once you save someone from being attacked the gate will be open and you'll be able to go enter the compound, named Prescott.

Once inside the tavern, head up to the bar and talk with the people playing cards, one of whom recognizes Javi from his time as a professional baseball player. Offer your advice to the other card player if you like, before Javi returns to

as a disagreement turns heated. Regardless of your choices

and you're faced with the major decision of corroborating the story or not. Either way, this ends the chapter.

Chapter 5 begins with Javi and Clementine in lockup after Eli was shot by Clementine. The closest thing Prescott has to a doctor soon arrives and Javi can either play it cool or turn on the charm ...either way he strikes out. Tripp, the leader of Prescott, shows up and says he'll take Javi and Clem to the junkyard in the morning. Eleanor, the medic, offers to let the two of you out the back gate instead. You're faced with a major choice: leave with Tripp in the morning (Clem's suggestion and what I chose) or leave with Eleanor that night.

At this point, you'll experience a flashback through Clem's eyes that will differ depending on who she ended up with at the end of Season 2. Regardless of your past decisions and the scene you get, the chapter after the flashback concludes.

The final chapter (for me at least) began as Tripp brings Javi and Clementine back to the salvage yard. Pick up the hammer and kill the nearby Walker then look at Mari's tape player. You'll find Mari, then you'll find Kate and Gabe trapped inside a truck, surrounded by walkers. Kill the walkers with LS and the face buttons, then use RT to kill the walker that Tripp is struggling with. Once they're freed the group prepares to leave when...

The final major choice of the Episode is to stay with Clem and fight or flee with Tripp and your family.
