In Hotel Renovator, you take over the "hotel" of your grandfather... if you can even call it a hotel at that point, as it is totally in ruins. Quite early on someone let you know that he wants to sleep at your hotel, so you have to make the first room ready, while even the lobby is such a mess and the hallways full of stuff, but there you go, fixing up room 101!

This game reminds me a lot of House Flipper, but with a hotel. I love House Flipper so for me that is good news. I started playing this game yesterday and completed it within 2 real-time days, I was so addicted. What helps a lot is that you get very early already upgrades for your tools to make things easier. BTW When you can buy the first 2 tools, you get a notification.. for the others you don't. so don't forget to check the upgrades on your tablet, as they will help out a lot.

Hotel Renovator has quite a few bugs. I felt like 3 times through the floor of the elevator, and sometimes your own design of the walls/floors doesn't show up correctly. I have quite a good gaming pc, but I played it on the low settings to hopefully load things a bit easier. When you move more than 1 floor on the elevator, it also takes a lot of time before you get there. I understand that the game is loading in the background but it feels like it loads too much when moving multiple floors compared to moving one floor. I'm wondering if it wouldn't maybe have been better to go for a more cartoony art style. Maybe that would have less loading time?

All the achievements are unlocked while playing through story mode. There is one achievement for using dynamite at least once... but after you unlock that, why shouldn't you keep using it? As it is just so much better. For me, only that last quest/achievement took too much. I might have played just too much in a short amount of time, but I wasn't looking forward to making so many more rooms after the story ended. I choose to not really style the rooms. After destroying the building stuff, cleaning, and replacing the floors and walls, I choose to just dump the items in the right room without caring how the room turned out. I think if you would renovate those last 16 rooms with care then you should add another 1+2 hours above the 13h+ hours that I wrote at the beginning of the review as completion time.

I had a lot of fun with Hotel Renovator, that is why I kept playing after all. I love that we have games like this, House Flipper, and Train Station Renovation. As a child, I would act like I'm a home designer and endlessly draw houses from a top-down perspective. I didn't want to pursue that as a career but this way I still can entertain that part of my younger self.
