You can do this after you get the upgraded shield from Sky Island. The easiest place to do it as in the exterior of Sky Island where there is a laser in the south-center part of the island. While the most obvious enemy in the area is one of the giant mechs, there's usually a weak bird flying around that area also, so you can try to get the bird to follow you, then deflect the laser into it for the kill.
