Easiest way to do this is on an easy rescue mission; incapacitate everyone else on board, pick your rescue target up, walk right up to a window and drop them on the floor. Shoot or throw something to break the window. You'll both fly out into space. You'll be separated at this point and they'll have a shorter timer than you before they run out of oxygen. Pause, remote control your pod, then come and pick you and the rescue target up, I picked myself up first but assume you can do in either order. Easier if you have angel pod.
