The achievement is actually awarded for calling in smoke artillery 5 times. As a squad leader with a living radioman (or a squad leader that is a radioman after the squad leader dies), hold down the command menu, select the smoke artillery, and type in the numbers that pop up using the ranges given. Do this five times, and the achievement will pop.
