Once you've got the spur (trade with the hermit gunsmith having not accepted the trades for the machine gun and the snake), go back to the shop in the Labyrinth via the teleporter in Arthur's house (and a long jaunt leftwards), and talk to the proprietor. He'll give you the whimsical star for free.
