  This is an incorrect description.
  For this achievement you need to collect 500 through all sonic games. This can easily be done on Sonic 2.
  Just collect as many rings as you can. 500 rings should come naturally throughout the game. I had unlocked this in "Chemical Plant Zone 2" after entering the emerald bonus game.
