This one is a insanely difficult to achieve, mainly because of bad scenario work.
The main culprit of any difficulty is the scenario, not the loco, as the main problem is getting 142 points at Linlithgow........if you don't get 142 there, you will not get 1,000 points at the end.
Believe me, I've tried, I once got 141 points there and still lost it with 999 points.

Ok here's how I did it...........first I tried and cursed, then watched this video, which gave me the basic idea:

Key thing is don't drive realistically, to make this scenario you have to drive like an utter maniac.........which means Notch 8/full power from standstill in most cases.

Set off from Edinburgh Waverly, try to keep the speed down at 8 mph to the tunnel and down to 5 mph into the tunnel, creep forwards, keeping the speed below 5mph until the oncoming train has passed.
Maximum acceleration (Notch 8) to 20 mph, idle, then once you are in the 35 mph zone full power, brake just about on leaving the tunnel or slight before.

Now what comes next is Crucial, keep the time but stop in such a way that half your loco is past the signal at the end of the platform.
    Open doors immediately and wait.
Release the brakes before the stop timer has run out.
Notch 8 immediately and Sand.......sand till about 60 mph...then stop and sand again at 70.
Somehow it accelerates better without sand in the 60 mph range.

Your goal should be 98.5-98.7 mph on driving through Edinburgh Park Station.

There are certain speed restrictions on the way to Linlithgow.....brake as late as you dare!
I braked at about 0.5-0.45 miles beforehand with about 25-37% on the dynamic brake, only use that as it releases faster.
Try to hit 90.9 and 80.9 just before the speed restriction.

When it comes to the stop at Linlithgow.........idle about 0.9 to 0.8 miles, brake at 0.75-0.7 miles beforehand, vent the brake to the maximum, pull it back to hold and apply full dynamic brake.

    And SAND!!!!!
Without sanding you will not be able to stop in fast enough.
Also put on the F4 Hud as you will need it's accelerometer to gauge how to modulate your dynamic braking, remember don't let it go into the red, otherwise points will be deducted.
The best trick is to let it get almost there and then reduce dynamic braking, to get it just back slightly towards the middle.
As soon as you're stopped, open the doors, you only need one or two coaches on the station marker to get the points.
Don't do more, the most important thing is to start loading as fast as possible.
I think I did it at 48:04 and I just got 142 points, if you have 48:05-06 you already get 141 points and anything later than 48:08 will give you 140 points.
Anything less than 142 points and you will not get the 1,000 points necessary for the achievement.

After this Save! Seriously, save after each stop without points deduction after Linlihgow, this scenario is marginal as hell.
After Linlithgow your main goal ist avoid penalties.

The next two stops Polmont and Falkirk are pretty easy, if you keep up the manic notch 8 driving you should arrive at each with time to spare.
Just remember to brake in time..........0.85 miles with full service braking and modulated Dynamic brake is enough on both.

After Falkirk it gets tricky, as about 4.06 Miles from the next stop Croy there is a treacherous set of S-curves which cannot be driven at full line speed, else you will get a passenger comfort
    penalty, which you can't afford.

In those curves drive about 80-86 mph, I drove about 81.5, accelerate immediately after leaving the left turning latter section of the S-Curve.

The Marker is a roadbridge 6.69 miles from Croy, visible from about 7.17 miles from Croy, followed by a Yard at 6.16 Miles from Croy.
Next Marker is a roadbridge at 5.17 Miles from Croy, get ready to brake.
At 4.57 miles the tracks from the yard cross under your line, this is your braking point!
Brake hard with blended brakes (air and dynamic brakes until about 78-80-ish.
Don't accellerate above 86 mph until you see and feel the left hander, which is the second part of the S-Curve widen. (After the bridge in that part.)

After that you should be able to handle it just fine.

Just be wary of the brake handle, apply and pull back into hold immediately, if you treat it like the brake Handle of the Class 66, and tap it again while in apply you will go into emergency brake application.
