6. Saints Row IV Challenges

Like Saints Row: The Third, there are lots of different challenges with varying rewards. You'll have to finish all of them, but a majority are completed as you do everything else. You can see all 66 challenges here, with some tips on each (if applicable) for your convenience. Knowing what these challenges are in advance will help reduce the amount of time it takes to finish everything.

Note: Some achievements may require more of the same thing a challenge does. Make sure you look at what you have to do for both.

Activities

Activity challenges should all be completed when you earn gold medals on every instance of every activity. These are the least complicated of the set. There are some challenges that want you to earn silver medals on activities whereas others want you to get the gold - the silver ones are redundant in this regard and are not listed on this chart.

ChallengeObjectives & Tips
Blazin' Gold MedalsBlazin' asks you to run and jump through checkpoints within a given time frame. Upgrading your Sprint and Jump naturally make these activities easier.
Genki's M.O.M. Gold MedalsMind Over Murder is a pretty simple game as it is. Just toss the right objects into the right places. You may want to upgrade your Sprint and Jump so you can get around more easily.
Insurance Fraud Gold MedalsInsurance Fraud is a classic stemming from the very first Saints Row; run into traffic and ragdoll on lots of objects (cars are the best) to rack up damage costs. You can't really make this one easier with upgrades.
On-Foot Mayhem Gold MedalsUpgrading weapons, which you should be doing anyway, helps with these challenges when they can. If they don't apply for whatever reason, then the best thing to do is aim for clusters of objects (regardless of how expensive they are), vehicles, and enemies.
Super-Powered Fight Club Gold MedalsIn these activities you need to use specific powers to defeat enemies. Upgrade these to reduce their cooldown times and increase their potential if you're having trouble with these.
Vehicular Mayhem Gold MedalsThese should be easy. Like On-Foot Mayhem, you need to focus on building a multiplier and destroying expensive objects, but that shouldn't be much of a concern when you're piloting a powerful vehicle.
Platforming Rift Gold MedalsIn platforming rifts, the goal is to land as close to the center of glowing platforms as possible. As expected, Sprint and Jump are most important here.
Speed Rift Gold MedalsThese are a simple type of activity in which you just need to direct where you run. Little balls of light will boost your speed and other things serve to get in your way. Sprint upgrades do not apply here.
TK Rift Gold MedalsTelekinesis is used in these activities to catch and throw colored balls, which need to be thrown at the same-colored target. It's pretty straight-forward.

Powers

All of your powers and their elements should have challenges based around them. Most of these are very quick and can be finished within a few minutes.

ChallengeObjectives & Tips
Death From Above KillsKill 100 enemies with Death From Above. The higher you are, the more damage this attack will do. The expensive upgrade for this power is well worth it, as it can obliterate a massive area when used in the right situation.
Distance Super SprintedSince cars are slower than even the slowest form of sprinting, this challenge shouldn't be a problem at all.
Superpowered BeatdownsWhen unarmed, sprint towards an enemy and perform a melee attack on them to do a beatdown. You need to do this just ten times.
Super Jump Air TimeLike with the above challenge for sprinting, you should absolutely no problem with this, especially since you'll be running around for all of the data clusters.
Telekinesis CatchesWhen fighting a warden, objects will occasionally be thrown at you. Prepare for this in advance so you can catch these objects and fling them back at him. You don't need to hit him for this to count.
Telekinesis KillsJust pick up and toss aliens around. Pretty simple. An achievement requires 100 TK kills, so don't stop when you finish this challenge.
Throw People With TelekinesisLike the previous challenge, this is easy. Picking up and throwing enemies is the easiest thing you can do with TK.
Vehicles Super-KickedDo an unarmed melee attack by a vehicle to super-kick it.
Arc Lightning HitsAfter unlocking the Lightning element for your TK, have the lightning arc to other enemies to kill them. You only need ten kills, so this should be over quick.
Enemies Mind-ControlledMind Control is an element for Blast. Simply having it affect enemies will count towards this challenge.
Fire Element IgnitionsKill ten enemies with the Fire element on your Buff power. Another simple challenge.
Freeze ShattersThe first type of Blast power. Frozen enemies can be shattered with a melee attack or by strong attacks.
Gravity Float KillsYour Stomp's Gravity element will send people into the air. When enemies are rendered helpless in this way, kill them through other means before they return to normal.
Ground Stomp StunsStunning people with this Stomp element is as easy as just using the power around an enemy. They don't even need to die so long as they get affected by the Stomp.
Health StolenSteal the life essence of just ten Zin with the related TK element.
Shrunken Enemies SquishedThe Stomp's Shrink element will minimize your foes. Run over them or step on them briskly to fulfill this challenge.

Weapons

Weapon challenges are simple in concept but take a while to finish. Make the best use of your time by upgrading the related weapons to make them more powerful. For the Experimental Tech achievement, you need to get at least 25 kills with the Abduct-O-Matic, Singularity Gun, Bounce Rifle, Disintegrator, Dubstep Gun, and Inflato-Ray.

ChallengeObjectives & Tips
Bounce Rifle KillsKill aliens with the Bounce Rifle. This is a pretty fun weapon on its own, but if you want to get this over with, don't forget to upgrade your rifle with the best things you can buy.
Dubstep Gun KillsThe Dubstep Gun can also be upgraded, of course, but your customization will actually make a difference in how much you like using this weapon. I prefer the Industrial setting.
Targets AbductedThe Abduct-O-Matic is obviously responsible for abductions. Just use this on 150 enemies over time.
Targets BlackholedThe Singularity Gun fires black holes, obviously. Make 250 Zin enter the void over time.
Enemies DisintegratedYou may actually like the Disintegrator due to the way it just removes things from the simulation. Upgrading it is well worth your money.
Inflato-Ray KillsIf you don't inflate every part of a body, then naturally the inflated part won't be able to sustain itself. The Inflato-Ray only inflates heads. Kill 50 enemies with it.
Mech Suit KillsYou need 250 kills with the mech suit. Some of these will come through story quests and others through Mech Mayhem. If you're low on this type of kill count, simply replay Mech Mayhem.
Tentacle Bat BeatdownsA pretty uncomfortable melee weapon, the tentacle bat is as potent as the other adult-themed melee weapon in killing enemies. You just need to defeat 30 with this abomination before you can put it away for good.

  • Experimental Tech

Kill 25 Aliens with each: Dubstep, InflatoRay, Bounce Gun, Disintegrator, Abduction, and Black Hole.

Enemies

There's a fair amount of enemy types in the game. Since enemies are meant to be killed, try to combine some of these challenges with the above Weapon and Power challenges.

ChallengeObjectives & Tips
Aliens Super-KickedYou can perform a Super-Kick by performing a melee attack by an enemy while unarmed.
Destroy Alien VehiclesDestroying vehicles will happen naturally through activities and raised notoriety levels, but if you want to get this over with, Mayhem activities are the way to go.
Destroy C.I.D.sC.I.D.s provide shields to enemies and are shaped like eyes. If necessary, try to grind these kills out in the last mission of the game.
Destroy MurderbotsMurderbots are a later-game enemy that are very good at murdering. The only difficult part about defeating them is that they can absorb a lot of damage before going down.
Destroy PortalsYou'll see a lot of portals throughout the game. If you don't want more enemies to show up, then get rid of portals. If you're using enemies to rack up kills for challenges, then let them sit for a while.
Kill AliensThis will come naturally as you do everything else.
Kill WardensYou'll come across wardens after certain events and activities, but if you don't kill 30 by the end of the game, then raise your notoriety to maximum to make one show up.
Alien High Notoriety TimeSimply stay at a high notoriety for a long cumulative time. You won't have to grind this.
Aliens TauntedTaunt aliens. This is actually a bit time consuming if you don't get started on it when you can still get to clusters of enemies.

Miscellaneous

Challenges that don't exactly fit into the other categories are listed here. A fair amount of them are challenges that are completed just for doing other challenges, So you really have less than 66 total if you don't include these ones.

ChallengeObjectives & Tips
Complete One Other ChallengeComplete any challenge you feel like.
Complete Six Other ChallengesWith the completion of the previous challenge, you'll now have done two challenges. Finish four more to complete this one.
Complete 12 Other ChallengesThis should be pretty self-explanatory.

Complete 36 Other ChallengesThis should be pretty self-explanatory.
Complete 46 Other ChallengesThis should be pretty self-explanatory.
Complete 57 Other ChallengesThis should be pretty self-explanatory.
Complete All Other ChallengesFinishing all the challenges is the main priority of the game, with almost everything you have to do to complete the game being part of another challenge or related to an achievement.
Audio Logs CollectedAudio logs are a certain type of collectible that you'll eventually be able to track the location of. Find all 39 and learn more about some existing and previous characters.
Distance Travelled in Alien VehicleIf you can hijack an alien Void (the cool-looking jets), then fly around in those until the challenge is completed. Otherwise, UFO Mayhem will place you in an alien vehicle for as long as the challenge is going.
Distance Travelled in Mech SuitYou use the mech suit in the main story and during Mech Mayhem activities. If you haven't reached four miles, simply replay Mech Mayhem.
Text Adventure CollectedThe collectible upgrades will allow you to find the eight pieces of a text adventure.
Time Spent With HomiesCall homies in the hub menu or find them on the streets and call them over to you. Just sit around with them for two hours if you don't feel like actually doing anything with them. Keep in mind, however, that some achievements require you to hang out with certain homies anyway. Spend time with characters like Matt, Shaundi, or Pierce to work towards an achievement.
Zinyak Statues DestroyedThere are 36 statues of the Zin leader spread out around the simulation. Destroy them all with weapons or powers.

  • Back in the Day

Spend 2 hours outside of missions with past Saints Row characters as your homies
