I had such high hopes for this game.... and I'm still BLOWN AWAY!!! I fell in love with tinykin in the first 20 minutes of the game and that feeling got stronger and stronger. What an amazing game, I loved the looks, the feeling, the stories! Each level felt overwhelming at first, but so so amazing and they aren't that big when you understand the layout and open up a lot of shortcuts. And that last level.... that was such an amazing theme... but wait, let me stop here and first tell you more about the game.

In Tinykin you control a few different types of "Tinykin", just like in Pikmin/Overlord/The Wild at Heart. You start off with the strong type that can help you push or pull items, in further levels you unlock 4 other Tinykin with their own unique abilities which I will not spoil here. Every time you find a new one you get a short cutscene that introduced the tinykin and their ability to you.

When you start the game you'll get a short intro and then land in the hallway of a 1991 home, this year is specifically mentioned in the game because you'll find all kinds of stuff that was so normal in 1991 in this home. This added a layer of nostalgia for me as that was during my childhood. You have a very brief tutorial on how to move and how to find Tinykin and use them, but I almost can't call this a tutorial but just a brief instruction. The game won't waste much of your time on learning the game but just shattered around the levels a robot kinda station with a very brief description of how this new mechanic works. In most of the game, this is enough and you're quickly on your way, I only need a bit of time to understand the blue tinykins, but got it after a few minutes.

There is no fighting in Tinykin, but you won't miss that at all, you'll be busy enough with platforming around, solving puzzles and finding hidden items. The art style is unique but so so cute. Before I played the game I noticed that there is a different art style for your character and the Tinykins compared to the surroundings, but during the game you wouldn't notice this much anymore as it will grip your attention and make you smile while exploring. I love both art styles but I think I have a sweet spot for the art style of the surroundings.

Tinykin blew me away, which is impressive because as stated before, I was hyped for this game and most of the time hype leads more easily toward disappointment. If my body didn't need sleep I would have played through this game in one sitting, but now I did it in 2. I just couldn't stop playing.

The achievements are very straightforward forward and like 80% of them you'll unlock them without even paying attention to the achievements. The most challenging ones will all come together with finding all the pollen and all the Tinkins. Which are scattered all over the levels, also in very hidden spots. This can become frustrating but for me, the videos from WheatYT on Youtube helped me to just find those few hidden pollen I had missed. UPDATE: They have added information of the tinykin you found in each level on the status screen, which is a very welcome addition and makes this game just easier for achievement hunters, now you know where to search for those last few pesky tinykin.

I loved loved loved Tinykin...did I already told you that I love Tinykin? And that ending... it leaves the door open for a second installment and I'm all in! Please "Splashteam" make a second installment <3
