Since when is a "darkened" version of Feeding Frenzy considered artistic horror?

They Breathe has been put on some kind of indie pedestal since its debut on Xbox Live Indie. Not just in the reviews here on Steam, but also within the tag-lines from reviews that are included in the store page description for this game. They talk about how artistically horrific this title is, and with a hipster sheen to their typed words, they seem to attempt to find a deeper meaning to the game than what is really there.

Let me put it for you plain and simple. They Breathe is a 2D down-scrolling game where you control a frog, avoid jellyfish, save other frogs and collect oxygen bubbles for 20-30 minutes. If you're good enough, you'll save all of your froggy friends and maybe complete the game without dying at some point. That's all there is to it.

This game isn't "chilling", this game isn't "the scariest game on earth", this game isn't "scarring". At best, this game is mediocre and mildly creepy for the most fleeting of moments. I'm not sure if the hype surrounding it is an exaggerated joke or not. I found it downright boring.
