Snowman is a casual, holiday themed game that's a little late to the party... over a month late, in fact. Yes, in many places such as the cold abyss of Canada, snow is still on the ground and children are still building snowmen. However, to release a game of this nature at the tail end of January is a very odd, and may I even say unwise, decision.
There's not a whole lot to say here, Snowman is another garbage $1 game that's given a -40% sale during its launch week. Right from the start, the title is broken as you can't even select a stage properly. You have to click the trophy icon, then click the restart button. Beware, if you click this "reset" button when you fail a level, you will go all the way back to the first level. Make sure to press the back button instead.
You control a skiing snowman through the course of 10 stages, with a goal of collecting enough presents to get to the finish line all the while dodging four obstacles (birds, logs, rocks, and bears) as you automatically head to the right of the screen at a set speed. You can control the snowman using the arrow keys, while using the up arrow to jump. If you hit a bird, he takes away 5 of your presents, thus setting you back further from the finish line. If you hit any of the other obstacles, it takes away one of your three hearts.
Even more atrocious than the Hawaiian luau music that constantly loops are the randomly generated obstacle placements, so that some of them are completely impossible to dodge, along with having a hitbox that's far too big. Save yourself the $1 and just don't bother, it's astonishing how often this broken trash is allowed to enter the Steam store. Even if you do find the will to finish the game, it only lasts about 45 minutes at best.
Rating: 0.5/5.0 - Abysmal, avoid it like the plague.Enjoyed this review? Join my Steam Group!http://steamcommunity.com/groups/bhhreviews
