Shank 2 it's awesome. The animation and art are fluid and sharp, respectively.

The variety of environments has been bumped up considerably from Shank, leading to the sort of world-tour sensibility of classic side-scrolling action titles from the 80s and 90s.

The gameplay in Shank 2 is fairly simple, but deep enough for it to require some skill. Countering and rolling is a welcome addition that eliminates much of the frustration that the previous entry suffered from.
The campaign while pretty brief, never overstays its welcome, and there are multiple difficulties to encourage players for a second go around. Normal mode is recommended to new players, while veterans of Shank will derive much more enjoyment playing on the harder difficulty.

If killing and dying alone isn't enough for you, there is also a two-player survival mode (multiplayer or local). Instead of playing through main levels with a friend, you are now tasked with surviving wave after wave of enemies who are trying not only to kill you but also to blow up three clusters of supplies. Between waves, you are given the chance to purchase items like health drinks, decoys, or heavy weapons, and the more waves you survive, the more items that become available. Each of the three survival levels also have unique items, such as harpoon guns or trap doors.

All in all, Shank 2 takes everything players loved about the first game, and makes them better. Highly recommended if you like this basic type of arcade game!
