It's rare that I will post a review for a game that I haven't completed in full, but I just can't bring myself to do much more than finish out the achievements and then give up Secret of Magia.

From the store page, the game looks like it will be a fun and fast paced RPG with dark, gothic graphics. However, when you play the game, you realize that it's the opposite of all those things. The color scheme and tones of the graphics are nothing as they are presented on the store page, which is very misleading. You can easily go around and avoid all of the monster fights; the monsters will not follow you or go out of their way to hit you. The only real fast-paced action here is how fast the main character moves.

The BIGGEST downfall of this game are the controls, whether you're playing with KB or a controller. It's just horrendous either way. I'm not sure how the developer even thought that the control scheme was a good idea in the first place. It's barely feasible on a controller, but downright hand breaking on a KB.

I should also mention here that any time you quit the game, the game crashes instead of closing properly. There is also no way to adjust your resolution or if you'd rather have full screen or windowed mode. Steam overlay also does not work in the game, but toast windows pop up and leave an annoying white rectangle on the corner of the screen.

At the paid price of a whopping $0.32 CAD, I can't say I'm upset. I got it at this price for the achievements, honestly. But anyone who is seriously considering this title for pleasure play should think twice. Don't support misleading store pages and broken games.
