Playing History 2 - Slave Trade is the infamous, educational point and click title that ticked off a ton of people due to it initially brandishing a minigame called Slave Tetris; wherein you attempted to sardine as many mangled slaves as possible into a trade ship. However, due to the overwhelming amount of complaints and general backlash that this minigame received, the developer eventually removed it from the title altogether.

You take on the role of Putjin, a boy who was captured from Africa and forced into slavery. At the start of the game, you find out that you have been given the Christian name of Tim; which is what the white slave masters will refer to you as. You perform errands for your master, who is the captain of a ship, and earn his trust or distrust through dialogue choices along the way. Early on into the game, you are given an item called "chrono goggles", which are to be used whenever you see something that doesn't belong in the 1700's. Each time you find an object, you are given a new minigame to complete; this mechanic could have been better utilized if there were more than two objects that require these special goggles.

Playing History 2 - Slave Trade only lasts about an hour, depending on if you decide to talk to every available character; I personally didn't, thus finishing the title in roughly 45 minutes. All of the dialogue is equipped with decent voiceovers, though in the grand spectrum of the title there are few dialogue choices to be had. Keeping in mind that this game is in fact intended for 11-14 year olds, the overall script is cheesy and generic, and it doesn't convey just how badly slaves were treated. In fact, for the majority of the game I was given the impression that so long as you did what you were told, you were treated well; this is due to how nice the interaction is between Tim and the captain, who gives him free reign to run off, do errands and have "play time".

If you're a parent or a teacher who is thinking about picking up Playing History 2 - Slave Trade for fun educational purposes, do yourselves and your children a favor by skipping it. There's very little in the way here in regards to education, and the game dumbs down just how truly horrific the slave trade days were. I can't say that I felt bad for Tim at all during the time that I spent with this game, he was treated really well; the only part that seemed to even attempt at conveying the brutality of this historical era was when 25 slaves had to be dumped overboard due to food shortages. However, if you're into achievements, this game is an easy and short one. Otherwise, just avoid this title completely.
