I understand that Machine Hunt is an Early Access title, and that certain aspects such as missing textures and mechanics are to be expected. With that said, BEWARE: As of February 6, 2017, there is nothing in the game that resembles the trailer or screenshots from the store page. The developer has also said that the purchase of Early Access at this stage will grant full access to Sandbox mode, this is also a lie!

Machine Hunt is a first-person shooter game that pits man versus machine. You will aim to destroy large mechs as they assault you wave after wave. The "story" mode is made up of 10 main chapters, which are preceded by the most boring, monotone narrative imaginable. Once you reach the 10th mission, you realize that the campaign continues onward forever, and has no true ending; at least not at this time. The other mode available right now is Survival Mode, which is pretty much the same as the story mode; you still fight wave upon wave of mechs.

There's no tutorial, so you're left guessing how to get health and ammo throughout the levels until you figure it out for yourself. Some mechanics, such as the right-lean and iron sights, do not work right now. There also seem to be missing textures on what can only be presumed barrels. There's over 1,000 achievements, so many that you end up gaining them nearly every second that you're in the game; some are even for each second that you survive in Survival Mode. Needless to say, it's rather stupid to have such a large amount of achievements when they don't mean anything or show off any actual accomplishments.

As it stands right now, forgo purchasing Machine Hunt, despite its low price. The store page is extremely misleading in terms of the trailer and screenshots. The maps are made up of heavily wooded areas, there are no city levels and there certainly aren't any of the weapons shown there either; there are only 3 or 4 different guns right now, two shotguns and two rifles. The game is without any sort of reload animations, indication of shooting the robots, and it has some awful day/night cycles that you can manually set. Quite honestly, due to the store page, I'm close to blowing the scam whistle on this one... but it's too early to tell.

Rating: 0.5/5.0 - Abysmal, avoid it like the plague.
