I'm blown away by LKG! It has so many little awesome details in the artwork. The artwork hanging on walls, how the scene behind the windows changes when you move your ship. The items in people's houses tell you a lot about them. I'm equally impressed with the different kinds and types of people, from shy to social butterflies, from morning to evening people, from human to robot all different kinds of personalities. Also, the events in the game are so lovely and wholesome. There are 2 main annual events (Friendsday & New Year), and there are short cutscenes between the people that live on your ship.
The gameplay is so addictive, there is always so much to do. There are times it can be overwhelming but if you follow the quests you unlock new stuff to make it all easier. What I didn't do right was not make multiple machines and tons of planters. I felt like that just cost so much resources, but later on in the game, I could see that by not doing that and trying to get by with the bare minimum, I only made it harder for myself. So I highly recommend taking the time in the beginning to build multiple machines and many planting spots, so you can grow crops quicker, which will help with the quests but also would allow you to make so much more money, and money felt real tide during the storyline when you have to buy things for the quests, but also want to upgrade the ship and your equipment.
There was this moment at the 5th planet, where I just felt overwhelmed by the quest requirements. It was so much that I needed to take a short break from the game. However, now that I'm on the other side (and even finished the game) I can see I was stressed out for nothing. I should have done what I have done the whole game, first do the quests of my crew members, so I get the items/machinery to make quests easier, and after that go for the quests from the current planet.
The developers of LKG, Carbon & Kay, are super responsive here on Steam as well as on their discord server and are working hard to make LKG the best game it can be. I really want to highlight that it is so unique to play a game for 70h+ and I haven't encountered any bug at all. At the same time, they also work so hard and brainstorm how to make the game even better, like working on the mini-game to catch microbes and also figuring out how to make it more clear that people should build a bunch of machinery and not just 1 of any type.
The achievements in Little-Known Galaxy are what you expect from a farming simulator kinda game. Befriend a bunch of people, grow every crop, finish the main storyline, and find every microbe type, artifact, and gem for the museum collection. I would recommend keeping one of each in your storage until the museum unlocks. However, it isn't a problem if you don't keep them as later on it might be easier to get them again. and for the artifacts and gems, in the end game, there unlocks a shop to make it so much easier to collect them.
I give Little-Known Galaxy 4,5 out of 5 stars.
