In Little Problems, you play as Mary. She begins with her first year at university, and not everything goes as planned. You start the game where she overslept, and the cat has destroyed the USB stick containing her schoolwork and that of her classmates. You have to figure out in this chapter who your groupmates are and which date it is. You do this by finding clues in the environment and on Mary's phone. In later chapters, you have way more information and have to figure out the relevance and links between the overload of information you get to answer the questions at the end of the chapter.

I love how this game takes you through different events of the first year of university and also gives you extra info next to the main puzzles, like how you start dating and how you hope to get invited to an amazing Halloween party. However, I was surprised by how challenging the questions are. It is not just an adventure to figure stuff out; you have to really sleuth around and combine different pieces of information. Gladly, there is a hint system, as well as the fact that you get a bit of info on how close you are to the correct answers, and you can ask the game to point out a wrong answer once in a while. You can even use all those tools without being worried that you'll miss out on any of the achievements.

Speaking of the achievements, most of them are just for completing each chapter and answering all the questions 100% correctly. There is also a "cupcake sticker" to be found in every chapter. And there are two other achievements. Gladly, nothing is missable and you can return to chapters to finish solving them or start them over. For those who want to complete a new game quickly to achieve 100% completion, it is possible to follow the guide linked above and finish the game very quickly.

I give Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game 3.5 out of 5 stars.
