I shall begin this review with something I normally wouldn't need to do, a WARNING:
At the time of writing; there are currently 6 achievements in the game that are bugged and will not unlock. There are achievements for doing all the side quests for 5 different people that will become your mentor and there is one for unlocking all the skills. Those 6 achievements will NOT unlock, despite you having fulfilled those requirements in-game.

With that, however, I'm still giving Going Under a positive recommendation because I did really enjoy the game quite a lot, besides, the developers are aware of this problem and should be working on a fix. It wouldn't be right for me to recommend this game and not make you aware of its current flaws before deciding to purchase it.

This is a very enjoyable rogue-lite game in which you play an Intern, beginning your new job at a soda company, that seems to have some kind of trouble with the companies that work below them in the building. You are of the belief that you'll start with a by the numbers marketing internship, that will not pay you but at least it looks good on your CV... However, the first day you get there, you're sent off downstairs to kill the monsters that are running amok down on the floor below your company but to add salt to the wound... This is STILL unpaid work!!

Once you've finished your somewhat unusual duties, now it's finally time to begin your proper work after cleaning out that dungeon... but the manager has different plans for you... seeing how you've now just proved to Management that you're great at cleaning out dungeons.

Words for us all to live according to: Never appear to be too keen or look too impressive on your first day.

This game does have the "Souls-like" tag on the store page and that is totally true, on the normal difficulty. Going Under is very, very challenging and you don't have many lives. If you think that is just too hard for you, then you can turn on "Assist Mode" where you can choose on just how easy to make it for yourself. e.g. You can give yourself up to 5 lives more, give weapons more durability, ensure the monsters have less health etc.
I think it is amazing that you can still get all the achievements even when you need a bit of help using this, as it makes it very accessible for people that aren't as keen on the Souls-like difficulty.

The achievements are, for the most part, very straightforward, unlocking them by just beating the game and doing all the side quests. I would HIGHLY recommend doing all the side quests from the mentors before entering a portal you aren't supposed to enter. It might look very boring to complete those first but afterwards, they will be so much harder to complete, so it was best for me to first get all the mentors up to the maximum level before then entering that particular portal to continue on with the story.

I had so much fun playing this game, the graphics and theme I liked a lot too. It really is something different for a rogue-lite in comparison to so many other games in this genre and that is a VERY welcome change.

I do hope the broken achievements will be fixed soon, so I can remove the warnings from this review and just totally recommend this game.
