I enjoyed the first Devious Dungeon game a lot, so, I was looking forward to this new instalment. While I did enjoy this one as well, it is much longer and harder than the first title but still very doable.

There are 3 classes you can play as, each with their own weapons and skills. I played as the mage because levitate was super helpful for me, as were the ranged weapons too.

Devious Dungeon 2 has 6 areas, each with 4 levels and an end boss. The first area is quite a breeze but naturally, it becomes a LOT harder the more you progress. Gladly, you can upgrade all kinds of stats to make it a lot easier as you progress. I really enjoyed the weapons that produce a burn effect on enemies a lot... maybe a little too much.

Devious Dungeon 2 asks you for a more patient playstyle, which is not my strongest suit, to be honest, but when I tried to be patient, be safe and take my time, it did go quite well.

Each time you beat a level you get to a scene where your merchant and healer are. I think the healer there is not worth it for 50 coins because when you die, you start at that exact same spot but with full health anyway, so you may as well use your money way more sensibly, by only using it for purchasing items and equipment.

I was a bit surprised with Devious Dungeon 2 because it has some problems while you're playing with a controller, like not being able to save the settings, however, the riskiest thing of all, is when you start the game with a gamepad, the button on which your gamepad is active is on the delete button for your save file. I have sent my feedback to the developer/publisher and they said that they are working on that, so hopefully, that'll get fixed soon enough and it won't be an issue for Gamepad users.

The achievements are straight forward. The first few are easy; buying a weapon, a trinket, armour and a potion. Also, you'll get one when healed by the priest. all the others are for beating the bosses of each area and for collecting 6 keys but you'll find more keys before you beat the game.
