    The gameplay in Riptide retains the basic principles of the original. Players can explore the open world, complete various quests, fight zombies in different ways and develop the skills of their characters. One of the key features of the game is the crafting system, which allows you to create more powerful and exotic weapons and improve them, which adds an element of strategy to the game.

    Players continue to get acquainted with the world engulfed in a zombie apocalypse. The events of “Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition” unfold after the events of the first part, when the main characters try to leave the island of Banoi on a rescue boat, but face new threats. Due to a storm and a shipwreck, they find themselves on the tropical island of Palai, where zombies not only managed to get there before our heroes, but also managed to evolve into new, deadly species.

    The plot revolves around the struggle for survival, revealing the secrets of the local culture and confronting more dangerous types of zombies. In addition to the familiar heroes from the first part, a new character joins the team - a retired Navy captain, which increases the number of players available for the cooperative mode.

    “Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition” offers improved graphics compared to the original thanks to the game's transition to the new Chrome Engine 6. New textures, improved lighting and detailing of the environment make the game visually attractive. However, not all models that received additional polygons and clearer textures look better - almost all NPCs in the game look worse than in the original. In addition, the game has many graphical errors, and the glow effect causes eye strain and pain in some locations, which is often complained about by various players.

    The soundtrack has also been changed: ambient sounds, zombie screams and music create an atmosphere of tension, emphasizing the difficult conditions in which the characters find themselves. However, when using Russian localization, an unpleasant bug occurs when the sounds of monsters are played right next to the player, regardless of the distance to the opponents on the level. This seriously spoils the impression of the gameplay, but the problem is quickly solved with the help of user manuals. It is important to note that the game has professional Russian voice acting, although this is not indicated on the game page on Steam.

    Due to the transfer of the game to a new game engine and the lack of thorough testing and revision of the project, the game has many errors and bugs, which can significantly affect the impression of the players from the gameplay. It is worth noting that the development team decided to concentrate all their resources on the development of the failed online sequel Dying Light: Bad Blood, as a result of which instead of two full-fledged and well-thought-out games, players received two failed projects.

    Interestingly, the gaming community has pointed out various problems with the game from the very beginning, but Techland continues to ignore negative reviews from players and critics to this day.     Despite some shortcomings, such as a predictable plot and not always responsive controls, the game gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in an exciting world and experience the adrenaline rush of fighting for survival. It is recommended to play this version of the game in co-op mode, as the game is terribly unbalanced in single-player mode and can cause bouts of boredom. While in co-op mode, you'll hardly notice most of the issues due to the constant lulz with your friends.
