Bear's Restaurant is a very emotional story-driven adventure game. It didn't start that way. At first, the game felt a bit preachy when you tell a boy that died when he was oversized that he should have eaten healthier. This was a point where I almost quit the game as it just felt wrong to judge people without knowing their story or having walked a mile in their shoes. I'm glad I kept playing as the game got a lot better after that, but we started off on the wrong foot with this part of the storyline.

The storyline is an emotional one and it kinda reminds me of To the Moon , a game I haven't played but I am aware of the story and the emotional impact that game can have. In Bear's Restaurant, you bake one last meal for the people who died and what they loved the most in their life before the people move on to heaven or hell. I'm glad the store page warns about heavy topics in this game, but what is even greater is that you have the option to explore in the game how people died, this part is optional and the game warns you that it can be very heavy or trigger some people. I decided not to explore their deaths and just accepted the story they told in snippets when they came to the restaurant.

There are 2 achievements for completing the story and 3 for exploring some of the end-game content. For those last 3 afterward, I can give the hint that you have to explore with Bear how he died, have to explore the "death" of a friend you met along the way, and after walking that path you can go sleep for the other achievement. None of them are missable as they will get you back at the end-game content when having explored that route.
