A surefire way to generate more waves is to enrage waves (throwing gem bombs on wave bar to the left) using tier 1 gems. Every five bombs on a same wave adds a beacon.
It is not recommended to enrage a wave too many times, as the strength increases generally on a power-of-two basis. Five per wave, ten waves, and you're good to go even in otherwise beaconless maps.
Now, since a lot of beacons are troublesome, you should actually generate more than ten, and destroy the most problematic ones such as speed beacons. As long as you have at least ten before the game ends, you will get this achievement.
