How to unlock the Left For Dead achievement

Oh my god, I finally did it!!! 😭

There is A LOT of misinformation about the requirements, so I’d like to set things straight.

    - You must be the last Survivor alive.
    - Wait until the other Survivors are fully dead, meaning their HUD icons have changed to skulls. Being hooked, slugged, or in the dying/sacrifice animation is not enough.
    - After you become the last Survivor, interact with a generator.
    - To be safest, repair it for at least a few seconds . Then you can leave it and wait for the Killer to close the hatch. If you are lucky and the Killer lets you finish the generator, even better, but in my run I did not finish it.
    - Do not escape through hatch. The achievement requires an exit gate escape.
    - The Killer must close hatch if you did not repair the last generator before this point.
    - Open an exit gate and escape.

    Step by step:

    1. Play normally until you become the last Survivor. Do not sabotage your teammates. It is not worth it, because you never know whether you would eventually get into the right situation anyway.

    2. Once everyone else is dead, find any generator and repair it briefly. If you are repairing a generator while the last Survivor is being killed/sacrificed, stop for a few seconds and wait until they die. Then start repairing again, just to be safe. I am not sure whether it would count if you simply kept repairing the same generator while the last Survivor was still alive.

    3. If the Killer is friendly or hesitates, try to make it clear that you need hatch closed. Search for the hatch with them. If you find it first, lead them to it and point at it. If they lead you to it, point at it too, so they understand that you are not asking them to kill you, but that you want to run to the gate.

Sometimes Killers think you are giving them permission to kill you instead of escaping. It is not necessarily sudden unfriendly behavior from them.

    4. Go to an exit gate and escape. Even then, some Killers may think you are giving them permission to kill you after you open the gate, because they think you are just farming points. However, this is much less likely than the hatch misunderstanding.

Yes, the most realistic way to get this achievement is with a Killer who decides to show mercy. However, it IS doable with an unfriendly Killer too. It is just MUCH harder and requires great stealth skills, and ideally a slow-moving Killer. The “legit” version with an unfriendly Killer depends heavily on gate spawns, hatch spawn, the Killer character, their patrol pathing, and whether they have aura-reading perks that can ruin your plan.

This is how I got it:

I was doing the green Glyph challenge. There were two dead bots, both of whom DC’d after one hook (🙄). The last two of us were both on death hook. I accepted our fate, and while being chased by the Killer, I just stopped midway and began communing with the glyph, expecting him to let me do it and then sacrifice me. Instead, he downed me and went to hook the last Survivor.

She managed to recover me before that, and I instantly began communing with the green Glyph again, but he downed me once more.

When the 3rd Survivor died on hook, he let me wiggle free, hit a nearby generator, and walked away to look for the hatch. I repaired it for about 10 seconds, found the hatch first, led him to it, pointed at it until he closed it, opened the gate, escaped, and the achievement unlocked. I didn’t even have a build for the achievement.

I thanked him to heaven for the achievement in chat, and he said he felt bad for not letting me commune with the glyph, so he let me escape even though he had been aiming for the 4k.

It was a P0 Deathslinger with only lvl1 Hex: Retribution, but when I checked his Steam profile, he was a Killer main with approximately 300 hours so he was most likely aware of the achievement.

    Most useful perks:

Wake Up! (Quentin Smith) - helps you locate exit gates once they are powered and increases gate-opening speed.

Sole Survivor - very strong for the final 1v1. It increases your repair speed and gate-opening speed when you are the last Survivor standing. This directly helps with both the generator interaction and the gate escape.

Low Profile (Ada Wong) - activates when you are the last Survivor and suppresses grunts of pain, blood pools, and scratch marks for a limited time. This can buy you the exact few seconds you need to reach or open a gate.

    Most useful offering:

    - A hatch offering, which can help if you are actively planning to earn this achievement with a friendly Killer. Personally, I find it unnecessary because I remember a lot of hatch spawn locations now.

    Once again, important warnings!!!

    - Do not repair/touch the generator before the last Survivor is fully dead. If they are still hooked, slugged, or in the sacrifice animation, wait until the HUD shows the skull.
    - Do not take hatch. Hatch escape will not count for this achievement.
    - Do not assume you must have five gens completed. My run unlocked with three gens still left, because the Killer closed hatch, which powered the gates.

Good Luck going for this achievement because you'll need it. Not only do you have to play super super stealthy all game but you also gotta leave your teammates behind.

I ran Sole Survivor, Deja Vu, Adrenaline, and Left Behind (You can honestly change this one out it wasn't much help). I also ran a flashlight so I can at least interact with the killer and annotated blueprint so I knew where the hatch was more then likely.

It was Midwich killer Animatronic, game was going alright right up till after the 4th gen popped. We all had 2 hooks each. I decided to stop trying and go for this achievement, one by one my teammates fell down and last left me. Midwich is nice because the hatch spawns at the bottom level 9 times out of 10, and I had a top generator. To the generator I went, I accidentally popped it right at the last second and was like this is the end.

His heartbeat grew louder and the gen finally popped. Luckily there was an exit door right below me and a hole to fall down so I take the fall. I open the door about half way before he caught up to me and threw his axe into me, desperate I start a small loop near the door.

I click my flashlight at the gate and then down to indicate me. No response and around once more. I click it again at the gate hopping I'll get something... and then a miracle. He stops dead in his tracks, I slowly go towards him and drop my beloved flashlight and he nods. I open the gate and rush out trying not to anger my metal friend.
    Showing only comment.
CrejziI’d love to help someone get this achievement, hoping that one day someone will do the same for me :-D. But whenever I try, nobody understands what I’m trying to do :-(. Even when I keep hiting the last generator while carrying a survivor, guard the hatch, they just keep running away or desperately trying to “outcamp” me so they can jump into the hatch. When I explain in the endgame chat that I was trying to give them the achievement because they played really well and deserved it, they say they didn’t realize. Is there some kind of universal signal to let survivors know what you’re trying to do BEFORE the last gen is completed (othervise they immediately look for the hatch)?

This achievement is going to be very difficult at higher ranks. As a result, I would do this at the lower ranks (15 or lower). However, it is going to be harder now if the killer stomps the hatch because that will immediately power all exit gates. I would have one repaired to 99% just on the safe side.

I recommend you run the perks Self Care, Bond, Left Behind & Wake Up and a toolbox. I also would run a higher quality tool box and save it for the end.
