Political Thought Quests guide. (FINAL CUT)

DiscoElysium - Political Thought Quests Walkthrough (FINAL CUT) & New Achievements

For Revachol !

I love this game; I honestly don't think I've seen better writing in another game, but for the life of me couldn’t find a decent guide anywhere for the new content with the release of the final cut; the 4 political quest guides and 3 additional achievements; Hardie’s Heroes, Medal Dispenser and Body, what Body?

After 200 hours in this game, I *think* I’ve seen everything (mysterious eyes) so decided to write a walkthrough for each of these. They are based on my experiences getting the achievements on Steam, and whilst I doubt that they differ on console versions, I don’t know for sure. They are more than likely not optimized, but I did a few tests with them to see what the bare minimum requirements for them are.

Happy to answer any questions you might have. Fun fact – I’m Australian and got the game by setting my VPN to New Zealand. (Apparently the use of methamphetamine depicted in the game was a no-no from our government - *that’s* where the line is; not all the actual horrific content, but a fictional man taking drugs.)

HUGE MASSIVE GREAT SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT. *YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED*

Committee of la Responsabilité Guide (Moralist)

Thought Cabinet project: Kingdom of Conscience, Jamais Vu.

Supporting projects: Opioid Receptor Antagonist

Representatives: Kim Kitsuragi, The Sunday Friend, Trant Heidelstam

Organizations: The Moralintern, Revacholian Citizen's Militia, EPIS, ICP

Prerequisites: Kim likes you. Have seen Sunday Friend already. Have opened Ruby's Truck. Decent Logic Skill. Completed the 2mm hole quest in the church; pass logic test with Soona for the theory. Need Jamais Vu and knowledge of the Pale. This is best done from Joyce.

Evoke the thought of centrism and accept it. In a dream, choose the line “We’re making progress. Measured, steady progress… [Pursue thought.]"

Follow enough moralist/centralist threads throughout the game to get the Political Thought Quest to start. This usually happens start of Day 4.

Moralist generally choose the centralist, "non-of the above" for answers to political questions, or "I have no political thoughts on the subject".

It pairs well with boring cop, if you're going for that achievement too.

2. Ask Kim about la Responsabilité.

3. The Smoker on the Balcony (who is now in the Whirling Rags) - ask him about Sunday Friend.

4. Talk to Sunday Friend on the Coast, next to the building on the very South West of the map, south of the cryptozoologists, west of the drunk men - the building with the bulletholes sign and little abandoned stalls to the west. Sunday Friend is on the west side of this building by one of the stalls, and you have to do a loop around it to get to him.

5. Sunday Friend asks you to find someone with technical knowledge to contact a giant airship, that is watching over everything, Big Brother style.

6. Ask Soona in the church to help you contact them.

7. Collect a radio transceiver from either the pawnshop seller (150 Reáls) or Ruby’s truck (for free). There may be an option for others, possibly Kim's radio from the police car.

8. Return to Soona and contact the airship. You can fail checks from this point - without being locked out, only suffering damage to health or moral.

9. To get the achievement, successfully tell the airship about the 2mm hole. This is an alternative ending.

Avowed Inframaterialist Guide (Communist)

Thought Cabinet project: Mazovian Socio-Economics

Supporting projects: The Suicide of Kras Mazov

Representatives: Cindy the Skull, Evrart Claire, The Gardener, The Deserter, Staban (University).

Organizations: The Commune of Revachol, The Insulindian Citizen's Militia

Prerequisites: Select lines related to communism. High Rhetoric, Logic & Composure if you're not going to savescum.

Evoke the thought of communism and accept it. (morning day 3 or 4, before finding Ruby)

In a dream, choose the line “I’m building communism for all. This time we won’t fail ... [Pursue thought.]"

Important characters of the quest: Mañana, SCAB leader, Cindy the SKULL, a communist student from room 11.

Roam the streets looking for communists. Talk to Cindy The Skull and Mañana.

Listen for the password from Mañana.

Attend the communist meeting after 22:00 at the apartments - it's behind Cindy, the previously inaccessible iron bar door/gate, upstairs outside the western balcony.

Use the password to get in. Talk them into letting you join the book club. Try not to refer to it as a "book club" too much.

Keep talking, and use a high composure check to pass the test. I failed twice, and was offered an alternative solution... (keep a spare point to reunlock the test) I am unsure if you pass it - it was a Godly 19 check. I found +4 from reading a little bit; perhaps reading lots can improve your odds. EDIT- +8 for reading and playing board games (_mu).

Read the book he gives you. All of it. It's actually really funny.

You may have to come back the next night - it will be 02:00 by now. If you have to pass a whole day by reading case notes over and over.

At 22:00, talk to Staban again, (quick save) and discuss what you've read in the book.

Pass a Rhetoric test to come up with your own ultimate communist question.

If your question makes sense, he'll tell you a line from a poem and the achievement will pop. I asked a terrible question about women the first time, and didn't get it. (hence the quick save).

There's a passive Interfacing check after you have finished the discussion of the Inframaterialist book, which then unlocks the option to try to rebuild the tower with them. (I wish this wasn't a passive check, as this is the real climax of the quest, and it's so easy to miss if you don't have the right stats) (thanks __mu)

Networthy Individual Guide (Liberal)

Thought Cabinet project: Indirect Modes of Taxation

Supporting projects: The Fifteenth Indotribe; Bankruptcy Sequence

Representatives: Joyce Messier, Siileng, Mega Rich Light Bending Guy

Organizations: The Wild Pines Group, Frittte, Coupris, FALN

Say liberal things related to money throughout the playthrough. Hussle everything, don’t care about any angle that doesn’t line your pockets. Get Joyce to pay your hotel bill, take the check and the fiver from the Union boss, take the one Reál coin from Mañana. Etc.

Evoke the thought of wealth (sleep day 3) and accept it.

In the dream, choose the line "I’m just looking out for my economic self-interest ... [Pursue thought.]"

Ask Cindy The Skull for some artwork. High Suggestion helps here. Buy her art.

Lower the shipping container in the harbour, and open it, with high rhetoric. (apparently the quest can bug if you open it earlier, so avoid that.)

Speak to MEGA RICH LIGHTBENDING GUY and get the stocks. You now have a fancy “net worth” overlay on your taskbar. You’re gonna be rich, Baby!

You need to find a “Personal Brand Strategist” – It just so happens that Idiot Doom Spiral used to do this for a living before becoming a drunk hobo. I mean, he even rebranded his own name! Hire him.

Check out the horse monument in the traffic jam

Return to Idiot Doom Spiral. Continue with the main quest (deal with ruby and the tribunal).

Return to the Monument.

The Icebreaker Guide (Fascist)

Thought Cabinet project: Revacholian Nationhood

Supporting projects: Advanced Race Theory, Jamais Vu

Representatives: René Arnoux, Racist Lorry Driver, Measurehead, Gary the Cryptofascist,

Organizations: Revachol the Suzerain

Prerequisites: Strong endurance skill. Rhetoric and Logic don’t hurt either. Being a big ol’ racist.

Say Fascist things against women, foreigners and generally be a prick.

Do not do the cryptologist quests or Gary will be gone. Also do this well before day 5, when René dies of being an old racist.

You’ll also need to get all the information about the pale from Joyce – pass the 20-impossible conceptualisation check by internalising jamais vu (also from joyce, and it gives +12 to this check)

Ask Kim to step away and talk even more about the pale.

Sleep on day 3.

Endurance will chime in that Revochal is a shit hole and getting worse. It’s lost it’s Sovereignty to foreigners after the “Kingsmen” failed and let the country be overrun by communards and hysterical woman. – Sign up to this, and get the “Turn back the wheels of time” quest.

Talk to Gary, The Racist Lorry Driver, Measurehead and René about turning back time. Some of this dialogue is hilarious, (like Gary believing in a magic mud cryptid that when punched turns back time 4.5 seconds, and has a plan to repeatedly assault the monster to travel back in time).

Go back to Measurehead. Pass a high Suggestion check, and go with him to the second location. Some VERY interesting dialogue, changes and fleshes out Measurehead’s character.

Speak to the white haired lorry driver.

Go to your shack/bathroom and face the mirror alone. Huge RED Endurance check; quicksave as if you fail the check, you won’t be able to get the achievement, and you can only try once.

Medal Dispenser Guide

Get the Setting Sun medal from Rene (using successful check for sad story).

Open the door and get the signatures for Everat.

After 22:00, drop Kim off and sneak out. (This has to be done without Kim)

Head to the abandoned fish market on the boardwalk. Confront “The Pigs” and calm her down.

Say the following lines after getting your gun back. Having authority skill 4 or higher and having the medal in your inventory allows the final option.

- "Alright, what am I gonna do with you? (Proceed)"

- "At ease, patrol officer Pigs, your heart is in the right place. (Bow)"

- "She will *know*. (Hang the Setting Sun medal on her chest.)"

Hardie's Heroes Guide

I think you might need Esprit De Corps at a certain level. Mine was 6 at the time. You will also want decent hand-eye coordination for the firefight, unless save-scumming.

For this achievement Titus Hardie has to stay alive after the Tribunal. The check for Titus to survive is linked to if you successfully hurt the Merc leader/Scab Leader in the fight. To do this have a bullet or two for your gun (or Ruby's gun if she shot herself) and successfully roll to hit him. You can also make and throw the Molotov cocktail if you've been playing along with The Tie's schemes.

After you wake up, from the fight, go downstairs, put on all your Esprit De Corps gear to be safe, and talk to Titus, choosing this line:

"Actually, I just came to say goodbye." [Leave.]

3. Immediately talk to him again and choose this line:

"So long, fellows. Be good so I don't have to come back here again". [Leave.]

4. After some more dialogue with Titus choose the following option:

"The RCM could really use a man like you, Titus. Think about it."

Body? What Body?

Never talk to the body. At all. The one in the dream that is *you* doesn’t count. Just follow every other investigatory lead; the foot prints are fine and you can talk to people about the body, but just don’t physically examine the body at all, don’t get it down, down even approach it. You never “get your shit together”, and the game has some new disturbing dialogue in places, (where Klasse can still see Lely hanging there out the window all the time, for example) but otherwise the game progresses as normal.

Once you’re back from the island, and they’re discussing the case,

The tricky thing that is arguably the most difficult part about getting this achievement is when you are talking to Jean at the end game debrief. The achievement is tied to a specific dialogue option that is easy to miss. Go through the debrief however you see fit up until Jean asks for your gun.

Show him your gun. (Or don't you lazy drunk)

Jean will make an appropriate remark to what you tell him.

Pick dialogue option 2, "I quit drinking. Forever. It's only me in this boring hell hole now.".

Jean will then say, "I don’t buy it. Why do you smell like a *corpse* then? Huh?" .

Pick dialogue option 1, "What smell...", which should appear if you followed step 1 correctly.

(thanks to theraider3000 & SlyIndy for pointing out that the achievement is locked behind a smell test dialogue tree!)

And that’s all the new stuff in the FINAL CUT.

THANKS TO ZA:UM for the wild ride; looking forward to the TV Show.

That’s all, Funky Baby!
