I "accidentally" got this achievement when being bored to run around as a gazelle and transformed into an 1d object (press E to do so). After not knowing what to do I started scrolling up with the mouse scroll wheel, hearing that sound when you add other being to your group. After doing this for a while, the achievement popped.
