At PAX East, Square Enix held two panels for FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION. One of them was an orchestral performance of the game, while the other dealt specifically with the Windows Edition of the title. In the latter panel, there were details revealed about DLC content that will be coming in the future, as well as updates for the Windows Edition.
While the original DLC episodes focused on Noctis' comrades, the four planned future episodes focus on "a future everyone longed for" and will include some of the other characters seen within the game. The episodes want to bring an alternate finale to some of those characters like players experienced in "Episode Ignis" and will be known collectively as "The Dawn of the Future".
The first of these new episodes is "Episode I: Ardyn "The Conflict of the Sage"" and it will be released at the beginning of 2019. This will then be followed by "Episode Side Story: Aranea "The Beginning of the End"", "Episode II: Lunafreya "The Choice of Freedom"", and "Episode III: Noctis "The Final Strike"", which will be released throughout spring 2019. All of these are working titles at the moment and all of the details on each can be seen below:
Episode I: Ardyn "The Conflict of the Sage"
This story portrays the struggles of Ardyn. Witness the resentment he harbored towards Lucis for over 2,000 years, and his clashes with the Astrals.
Episode Side Story: Aranea "The Beginning of the End"
A side-story about the Starscourge depicted from the Niflheim’s perspective. The final day of the Empire turns out to be Aranea’s worst day.
Episode II: Lunafreya "The Choice of Freedom"
This story’s about Luna’s fate, which not even death can free her from. Her battle to save the one she loves overturns the destiny dealt to the Lucian King.
Episode III: Noctis "The Final Strike"
Parting ways with the Astrals, Noctis embarks upon his final battle in order to attain the ideal future for all his people.
The team also teased a new collaboration with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. No details are available at the moment but more information has been promised for later this year.
Specifically for the Windows Edition of the title, an update will be coming in spring that allows players to use the character creator in the game's main campaign. Originally only available in the "Comrades" multiplayer update, the mode can be used to change the appearance of Noctis throughout the campaign. When you're joined by other players, they will assume the roles of your fellow characters and their custom avatars will not be available; however, players will still be able to view those custom avatars as ghosts that can be seen alongside the character whose role the player has assumed.
Another update for the Windows Edition will be User Treasure. Every day, the player gets a treasure that they can hide throughout the world for other players to find. The longer it takes for another player to find the treasure, the better the treasure will be. This update, and the character customisation update, will be released in spring.
The "Comrades" multiplayer DLC will be receiving an update this summer that adds lots of bosses, including a raid boss, and a battle challenge that will involve multiple bosses at the same time. The expansion will also be released as a standalone title this summer.
Finally, coming later in the year (currently aiming for fall), the Windows Edition will get a level editor. This allows players to create their own levels and maps, place enemies and items, and create sequences and events that are triggered by player actions. The levels can be standard dungeons, or be as diverse as chocobo races and a golf game. The level editor will be preceded by basic mod support in the spring, which will allow players to customise characters and weapons.
