All of the challenges can be seen in the quest log, and are listed in categories for your convenience. Many of these will come naturally as you work towards other achievements in the game, but some can require a lot of grinding if you aren't careful about things. For a start, don't spend any currency on normal upgrades (except the Collectible Finder, Scavenger, and Wage Bonus upgrades) until you've fully upgraded all of the twenty available weapons. If you have the bonus weapon, the Jester's Skull, don't bother using it at all if you want to complete this game as fast as you can.
Activities
To make gold medal constraints easier, buy some of the Activities upgrades if you have any spare cash. You should still focus on saving money for all the weapon upgrades as first priority, though.
Challenge | Objectives & Tips |
Gold Medals in Hellblazing | Hellblazing Activities will ask of you to fly through a course of checkpoints in a specific time frame. Upgrading your Flight abilities makes getting these eight gold medals a lot easier. |
Gold Medals in Torment Fraud | Like Insurance Fraud in the past Saints Row games, you have to toss yourself into objects, cars, etc. to rack up more insurance money. These should be easy without any upgrades. Try to hit five cars in a row without touching the ground for an achievement; you can replay Torment Fraud as much as you like to try again. |
Gold Medals in Mayhem | All you have to do here is cause mass amounts of destruction. These should be easy to complete, but weapon upgrades help a lot if you're having trouble. |
Gold Medals in Salvation | Salvation is a new type of activity, where you'll be flying around, saving souls from Satan's grasp. Better Flight powers will make these three gold medals a lot more reasonable to attain if you're having trouble. |
Gold Medals in All | This challenge will be completed as you complete the other Activities challenges. |
Diversions
Diversions are side missions that are similar to Activities, but can't be replayed. Be careful about extraction facilities; you'll want to pop the missable achievement as soon as you can.
Challenge | Objectives & Tips |
Complete All Pledge Rush Diversions | A bunch of college students have been sent to hell, and like usual, they're making too much noise. Whack them into the goals with the Tri-Omega to get enough points to finish the diversion. |
Convert Marshalling Grounds | These are small missions where you have to charge objects in the marshalling grounds with your own power to lure out an archduke. Killing him will let you convert the entire place to your own influence, allowing you to fast travel there whenever you're not in a fight. This will earn you the deadly weapon Uriel's Edge; use one of the marshalling grounds to fast travel inside Satan's secret chamber to find it. |
Control All Extraction Facilities | This type of diversion consists of standing in three areas inside an extraction facility until you have full control of all three at once. Enemies that appear in each facility are actually limited, so you can focus on them first before taking over a point. Keep a motorcycle at the last point, and stay on it as you take the last point for the missable achievement Terminal Hog. |
Complete All Survival Diversions | Survival diversions are marked on the map like activities, and all you have to do is defeat the rest of the enemies. |
Collect Blackbeard Chests | Five of Blackbeard's treasure chests are scattered throughout New Hades. Finding them is made trivial with the Collectible Finder. After finding all five, you'll earn the deadly weapon Boom Chicka. |
Rampage Crushes | One of the vehicles that appear more frequently at higher instances of notoriety, the Sinterpol Predeceptor is a large monster truck that can destroy other cars when running into them. Do this 100 times to finish this challenge. |
Rambulance Kills | Hijack a Rambulance; you may have seen one hitting pedestrians at some point already, and you're going to have to do the same to at least 200 husks. |
Kill Dex | Dex, from the first two Saints Row games, has been killed after the events of Saints Row 2, and has rightfully ended up in hell. Kill him at least seven more times as revenge for his actions against the Saints, which will also give you the deadly weapon Gallows Dodger. |
Armored Cars Reclaimed | After meeting up with the twins, they'll ask you to take back at least ten of their stolen armored cars, which are being driven throughout the underworld. Hijack one and take it to the point marked on your map to reclaim it. |
Complete Altars | Altars require you to use a specific power on them in order to be activated, and once you complete the objective, you earn a new element for that power. Set all four of your powers to different elements at once to get an achievement. |
Disable Spires | Once you reach Lv05, spires will appear around New Hades, which shoot missiles at you when airborne. Disabling them is quite easy, but try to hold off on that to make Top Gunner a lot easier; get that achievement out of your way as soon as you can so you can disable all the spires without worry. |
Drained Rescues | As part of the story, you'll have to rescue your five allies, who are all guarded by a horde of enemies. |
Balls of Fire | Comets are the small white vehicles that explode after being driven a little bit. It'll be pretty hard to hijack one, but once you do, try not to run into anything for a long time to build up the distance you need to complete this challenge. |
Find Barnstorming Locations | Barnstorming locations are practically everywhere; just look for anything that you can fly under, like an archway, or the paths inside broken buildings. Flying through 75 different locations will be a bit of a pain though, so work towards it early as you complete other objectives. |
Arcane Powers
All of the arcane powers and their elemental variants have a challenge of some sort tied to them. Completing these will give you some achievements as well.
Challenge | Objectives & Tips |
Testicular Manslaughter | Use melee attacks to hit demons in the crotch, but only when holding a weapon. |
Distance Super Sprinted | This should come naturally as you run around, doing other things. |
Halopowered Beatdowns | These are melee attacks done when you're not using a weapon. |
Flight Time | Spend thirty minutes of time when flying. Although this may seem like a long time, it should pass by very quickly as you look for soul clusters. |
Coldfire Aura Ignites | All you've got to do is use this initial Aura power on enemies 200 times. You'll get an achievement for getting halfway through this challenge. |
Vamp Aura Lifesteal | This is an elemental change to the Aura ability, which steals life from nearby enemies. Kill 100 demons with this different ability. |
Worship Aura Targets | The third elemental change unlocked for Aura. Simply use the power around enemies to make them bow down to you; you'll need to do this 200 times, but this is the least time consuming of the three aura challenges due to your Super Sprint ability allowing much better use of the time your aura lasts. |
Stone Blast Shatters | Use your standard blast attack to turn demons into stone, then shatter them with weapons or melee attacks. This will also give you an achievement. |
Soul Blast Kills | A different variation of the blast power; use it to kill 100 enemies. You won't have to shatter anyone this time. |
Shadow Blast Kills | Like the Soul Blast, you won't need to do much more than use this power against enemies in order to kill them. You'll need to kill 100 with this element as well. |
Force Stomp Toss | Use your standard stomp attack to launch enemies in the air; do this 200 times for the challenge, and an achievement will pop at 150 times. |
Vacuum Stomp Collects | The vacuum stomp attracts enemies, money, and other objects, which is very useful for grinding money when using the Diamond Sting weapon. Since you'll likely have to grind for money at some point, 200 item collects with this power should come naturally as well. |
Holy Stomp Kills | Like the Force Stomp, this power will kill enemies. Kill another 200 with this element for the third Stomp challenge to be completed. |
Summon Imp Kills | Use this power to summon a group of imps, which will latch onto enemies and eventually kill them. This will give you an achievement, as well. |
Summon Tower Kills | This version of Summon brings up a spire from the ground, the kind that fires missiles in the air. This type of spire, though, will fire at enemies even when they're on the ground. 150 kills with spires will take a long time to accomplish, though. |
Summon Titan Kills | The third variant of Summon calls forth a titan to do your bidding. You'll need allied titans to kill 100 enemies over time. |
Weapons
Almost all of these challenges require you to get certain amounts of kills with specific weapon; this is a breeze if you purchase the ammo and reload upgrades in the main menu with Wages, but since fully upgrading every weapon takes a ton of money already, you should focus more on the actual weapon upgrades first. This will save you a lot of time in the long run. To boost money, purchase the Diamond Sting, a deadly weapon, and kill husks or demons with it to create money; then suck all the change in with a Vacuum Stomp. Continue this process until you either spend money to wipe your notoriety, or an archduke/Professor Genki appears during the last wave of notoriety.
Challenge | Objectives & Tips |
Energy Caster Lightning Arcs | Purchase the ultimate upgrade for the Energy Caster, then fire a shot at one demon near other enemies to make the lightning arc between them. Getting 500 lightning arcs is a lot easier when there are more enemies around, so pull it out when you're confronted with lots of bad guys. |
Tri-Omega Collision Targets | Purchase the ultimate upgrade for the Tri-Omega, which allows you to whack demons into other demons. You'll only need to do this a total of 30 times, so you won't be spending a lot of time with this weapon. |
Lil' Croaker Tongued Targets | Just fire frogs from your Lil' Croaker, and they'll latch onto targets with their tongues and explode. |
Last Supper Explosive Kills | After finishing the challenge for visiting the three Tacos Malos around New Hades, you'll get this deadly weapon. Getting the required kills with it is much easier with the various weapon upgrades in the main menu. |
Umbral Rifle Scoped Kills | A standard sniper rifle. Kill 50 enemies with it when you're looking down the scope; if you get headshots, you can work towards another challenge. |
Ark of the Covenant Siphons | You can pick this deadly weapon up from Professor Genki, who occasionally appears at the highest level of notoriety instead of the usual archduke. Once he's dead, take the weapon from his body quickly, and then work towards siphoning 100 souls. You will, however, need to get a total of 250 kills with this weapon for an achievement. |
Boom Chicka Arousals | This deadly weapon is earned by opening all five of Blackbeard's chests in hell. Using it on an enemy will infatuate them towards something; create this effect on 150 different demons. |
Mercenary LMG Kills | A standard light machine gun. Get 100 kills with it. |
Lava Cannon Ignitions | Purchase the ultimate upgrade for the Lava Cannon and use its new power on 100 different enemies to set them ablaze. |
Soulsweeper Kills | A standard shotgun. Kill 100 enemies with it. |
Damned Impaler Knockbacks | A souped-up shotgun that, after you buy the ultimate upgrade, can send demons flying. You'll have to do this to 75 enemies; killing them is not required, but there's not really a reason not to kill enemies. |
Exodus 10 Swarm Kills | This weapon fires swarms of insects; kill 100 enemies with this plague to complete this challenge. |
Brimstone Belcher Acid Kills | Purchase the ultimate upgrade for the Brimstone Belcher, and then use the acid it sprays on 100 enemies. |
Diamond Sting Wage Drops | The Diamond Sting, a deadly weapon, is available for purchase at any time for 100,000 Wages. This challenge requires you to make all of that money back with it, so fire away at enemies or husks (civilians) to create wage pickups. You'll have to grind some money by doing this for a lot of upgrades, anyway, so this challenge should complete as you work towards upgrading your other weapons. |
RPG Vehicles Destroyed | A standard RPG. Blow up 50 enemy vehicles with it. |
Armchair-A-Geddon Missile Kills | You get this deadly weapon during one of the story missions; once you have it, pull the recliner level to launch missiles at nearby demons. You need to get 100 missile kills for the challenge, but for an achievement, you need 250 kills total with this weapon. |
God's Hammer Smite Kills | Once you get this hammer from the story, purchase the ultimate upgrade and smite 100 foes with its heavenly might. |
Uriel's Edge Kills | This deadly weapon is unlocked by converting all five marshalling grounds, then using one to fast travel to a secret area inside Satan's tower. Pick up the weapon and test it out, then kill 100 enemies with it. |
.45 Fletcher Kills | A standard pistol. Kill 100 enemies with it, preferably with headshots, so you don't have to use more ammo than you have to. |
Gallows Dodger Overkill Kills | Charge this deadly weapon by hitting enemies with it, and after it's charged, it'll go into overkill mode. You'll need to get 100 kills when it's in this mode. |
One Hit Kills | Strong weapons, like the Gallow's Dodger, Uriel's Edge, and God's Hammer should kill most enemies in one hit, especially on Casual difficulty. |
Headshot Kills | When you're working on the Umbral Rifle challenge, or practically any other weapon challenge, aim for the head to perform a headshot. You only need 30 of these for this challenge. |
Explosive Kills | This should come naturally with explosive weapon types, so don't bother grinding this one out unless you somehow didn't get it from the explosive weapons' challenges. |
Seven Deadly Weapons | All seven deadly weapons' methods of unlocking have been mentioned in their respective challenge. These weapons are the Diamond Sting, Uriel's Edge, Armchair-A-Geddon, Gallows Dodger, Boom Chicka, Last Supper, and the Ark of the Covenant. All you need to do is acquire them, but you will need at least 25 kills with each one for an achievement. |
Fully Upgrade All Weapons | This will require a massive amount of Wages, and to prevent yourself from spending a few hours solely grinding on money after all the other challenges have been completed, you should spend money only on the Collectibles Finder, Scavenger, and Wage Bonus upgrades in the main menu. The rest of your money should go directly into weapon upgrades. To grind for money, use the Diamond Sting on anything that lives (including civilian husks) and then collect your money with a Vacuum Stomp attack. You'll get an achievement for upgrading one of the twenty weapons to maximum potential. |
Enemies
Most of the enemy challenges will be completed as you work on weapon challenges; to find bro and tragedy demons, you should grind kills in Shantytown and The Den.
Challenge | Objectives & Tips |
Destroy Demon Vehicles | Do this with the Ultor RPG to kill two birds with one stone, as that weapon's challenge requires you to destroy 50 vehicles with it. You can destroy the other 100 you need in any way you choose. |
Kill Sin Orbs | After progressing through the story, yellow sin orbs will appear from time to time, moving at high speeds towards an escape. Run up to them and grab them before they can get away to destroy them. |
Kill Dark Inciters | These are the flying wizard-like enemies that appear as you cause mayhem. This should come naturally as you grind out the weapon kill challenges. |
Kill Demons | Just kill 1,000 enemies of any kind; all of the other challenges that require you to kill enemies will work towards progressing this as well. |
Kill Archdukes | These behemoths appear in marshalling grounds, but also appear more likely than not at maximum notoriety levels. You need to kill 10 for the challenge, but killing 25 will give you an achievement. Try to make the killing blow on one of them a melee attack for another achievement. |
Kill Grenadiers | A different type of the standard demon, which has an annoying grenade attack. Killing 50 will come quickly. |
Kill Satan's Top Agent | Once at the maximum amount of notoriety, Satan will occasionally send his best man after you, instead of the usual archduke. This monstrosity is none other than Professor Genki, who will really put up a fight with his deadly weapon, the Ark of the Covenant. Once he's dead, pick this weapon up from his body to add it to your collection. |
Kill Shadow Demons | One of the varieties of the standard demon, the shadow demon has the ability to teleport if you get close. You'll have to kill at least 50 of them from long range. |
Kill Imps | Imps will appear in groups as you bring your notoriety level up to grind for money or archdukes; killing 100 of them should be no sweat, especially with the Stomp superpower. When you're working for this, hold off on killing them until five are latched onto you at once for an achievement. |
Kill Legionnaires | These large brute demons appear at the fifth level of notoriety, and look similar to the archdukes, but don't have swords. Sometimes, you'll find some legionnaires guarding Sex as he moves around New Hades. You'll need to kill 30 total, which will be a bit of a hassle. |
Kill Bro Demons | These are the frat party demons that appear in the Pledge Rush diversions; after playing the diversions, you can find very small amounts of bro demons in Shantytown at the second level of notoriety. |
Kill Tragedy Demons | Tragedy demons wear white tragedy masks, and can be found in The Den. Their spawning works like the bro demons' system does, so you'll only be able to find a few of them during notoriety level 2. |
Destroy Sinterpol Tanks | As your notoriety increases, large tanks will be sent in from Satan's army to try to stop you. Wreck 40 of them to complete this challenge. |
Miscellaneous
These last challenges are very standard, and a vast majority of them are tied to achievements, so you'll be be getting a lot of these throughout normal gameplay. The only things you should ever have to potentially grind in the miscellaneous list is vehicle distance, as the rest of the challenges are marked off for simply completing the game.

Hoods Discovered | As you complete Activities and Diversions, you'll likely come across most of the hoods in New Hades. Some, however, aren't part of the standard takeover areas, so you'll just have to fly to them on your own from the mainland. Look around the edges of New Hades for undiscovered hoods. |
Visit All Three Tacos Malos | There are three taco shops around hell for you to stop by. Completing this challenge gives you the Last Supper deadly weapon, as well. |
Gat - Time Played | Play for at least two hours as Johnny Gat. You start out as Gat from the beginning, so this should come naturally as you start the game's long to-do list. |
Gat - Find All Commentaries | As Johnny Gat, there are 30 commentary spots located all around New Hades; when you reach a marked spot on the map, Gat will say something about the view, the place you're at, etc. These are only available to you when playing as Gat, so if you're usually playing as Kinzie, you'll have to switch over to him in the Ultor Lobby to find these. |

Soul Clusters Collected | There are 940 total soul clusters all throughout New Hades for you to find. The Collectible Finder is a must-have upgrade when looking for these. Some clusters may be hidden by other icons on the map, but this is resolved by removing all other icons when using the map. |
