5. Assassin's Creed Origins Story Quests (The Curse of the Pharaohs)

Travel to Thebes using the prompt on the lower left corner of your screen when looking at the map.

The Curse of the Pharaohs (Pt. 1)

Suggested: Lv45

Hide ads

Reward: ---

When you arrive in Thebes, you'll hear Amunet tell you about a new artifact found in Egypt. A man named Sutekh will welcome you, but will be interrupted by the resurrection of a long-dead pharaoh. It seems that this artifact must be related to resurrecting the dead. After fighting the shade for some time, it'll disappear. The package Amunet gave you to Merti, who will be near Luxor.

Merti will tell you that the artifact responsible was probably traded around, so the merchants might know about it. The curse is another key factor, which the high priestess in the area might know about.

No Honor Against Thebes

Suggested: Lv44

Reward: 20000XP

After talking with Merti, look around the market for a man named Siamun who will very slowly walk you over to an ambush. After making a threat towards Siamun again, he'll finally spill the beans about a gambling site where you can earn an invitation to an auction. After a woman named Tamehet is attacked at the match, she'll give you her invitation after you save her life. Well, she would give it to you, but it's at her villa.

The villa has a secret apartment that can only be opened by turning statue heads towards the small golden scarabs on the ground. After enough time, the heads will move independent of one another, which makes opening the path easier. Keep looking around for a scroll detailing what the artifact looks like: it's another Apple of Eden.

The Lady of Grace (Pt. 1)

Suggested: Lv46

Reward: ---

Now that you have the invitation, head to the island that the auction is being held on. It'd be held on the island if it wasn't attacked, that is. Kill the attackers and investigate what happened to the auction. The conclusion to the investigation is that all survivors and the Apple have been taken to the Temple of Hatshepsut across the water.

Since you're here, you may as well complete the temple's objectives. When you get around to getting to the exploration area, look for some cells and you'll come across Irsu, who will tell you that his nephew stole it from him. Track him down at the Worker's Necropolis and you'll be able to learn where the tomb is as well as receive the artifact.

Run into the tomb and find Nefertiti's sarcophagus. That's not what you're looking for, though. See that glowing slit in the wall? Pass through there and see what happens. Once you've made it through, some priests will attack you. Fend them off and enter the Aaru, one of four afterlife areas in the DLC. Upon reaching Nefertiti's palace, speak with three priests to learn that you've got some cleaning up to do if you want to return the relic to her.

Cleansing Rite

Suggested: Lv46

Reward: 5000XP

Just use the spring for an easy 5000XP. You should probably clear this location too, since the stelae is right behind the spring.

Something Rotten

Suggested: Lv46

Reward: 5000XP

The impure food you need to burn is on one of the ships moving around Aaru. Just set fire to it however you please to end the quest.

Soured Libations

Suggested: Lv46

Reward: 5000XP

Travel to the House of Libations and simply destroy all the bad wine. You may as well read the stelae here to finish the location too.

The Lady of Grace (Pt. 2)

Suggested: Lv46

Reward: 10000XP

Walk up to Nefertiti's throne and place the relic back in the hole. Upon doing so, Nefertiti will be returned to the afterlife, looking for a fight. She's a real tough fighter too. I only managed to defeat her by using the sword you get from the Final Fantasy XV crossover quest since it has adrenaline-regenerating properties, and that sword was at Lv55 (along with myself, of course). You don't have to follow that exact strategy, of course, but just keep it in mind if you're really having a bad time. Nefertiti's death marks the end of this quest.

Aten Rising

Suggested: Lv47

Reward: 8000XP

After talking with Merti at the start of the DLC, this quest starts. The high priestess claims that the curse is the work of the gods, but Bayek believes differently. Head to a farm just outside of Thebes and investigate a recent attack to learn that bandits have been taking people away from the village. A man named Djehuty has been taken to Bone Picker Camp to the south; talk to him to learn about the pharaoh Akhenaten that the farm has started to worship.

A cursed farm is the next destination. There are three piles of animal carcasses that need to be burned. Once that's done, meet with Djehuty at night and help him with his ritual to the pharaoh. Afterwards, he'll tell you that the only text mentioning Akhenaten is guarded in the archives in Thebes. Upon reaching the scroll, you'll learn that Tychon's men are looking for the pharaoh's sanctuary as well.

Reach the sanctuary and wait for a beam of light to show you the way inside during the daytime. Once you learn that the curse isn't from Amun, return to the high priestess and explain to her that the curse originates from the relic that the pharaoh holds in a statue.

The Heretic

Suggested: Lv48

Reward: 10000XP

Now that you've figured out the connection between the curse and the relic, find Tychon and kill him for his ledger for the location of the statue you're after, which is in the Temple of Hatshepsut. Scrape some dust off of the statue and head to Akhenaten's tomb. Crawl through a shining crevice and you'll reach the afterlife area of Aten. One of the statues near the entrance hold an orb with light shining towards the giant ball in the sky. Four more symbols like this one are spread out across Aten; destroy them all, and then make your way to the Great Temple of the Aten.

Akhenaten uses a large blade with absolutely terrible reach. Because of this, bows are really useful against him. The Favor of Osiris skill is a must-have if you want to go with this strategy. By using bows, you'll also build up your adrenaline, which you can use to send far more powerful attacks into the pharaoh once there's an opening. The quest will end when Akhenaten is dead once more.

The Curse of the Pharaohs (Pt. 2)

Suggested: Lv48

Reward: ---

Once you're done with the above quests, you'll finally be able to move on with this one again. Talk to Isidora about what you've been through for the past few hours and then head to Tychon's house. Look inside a chest to find a paper telling you that someone else is looking for the relic, The Lotus.

Blood in the Water

Suggested: Lv49

Reward: 10000XP

Travel to Swenett to talk to a scribe. He won't be there, but his boss will give you a clue as to where he might be. Bandits have gotten to him first, however, and have taken the ship manifest to the Flooded Farm Hideout. The Lotus' ship will have already been attacked. Look for the people on the shoreline to learn that a red-haired man stole someone's horse. Find Sutekh in the fishing village and he'll tell you about the attack, and that the men who attacked him were after Merti.

Reach Merti's villa near the House of the Blue Lotus and kill all the soldiers who are looking for her before speaking with her. She'll give you a scroll detailing what she knows of the situation thus far, pointing you towards the Necropolis of the Nobles to the north. Outside, one of Anubis' men will attack. He's not as tough as a pharaoh, but he's still a challenging opponent nonetheless. Be sure to confirm the kill to get his loot before heading north.

Isidora will already be at the necropolis arguing with Tahemet. Follow her as she speaks to you, and then investigate the tomb afterwards. You'll get another quest now, which you can start now or later, but make sure to finish this one now since it's almost done. Check out the hieroglyphs inside to learn that Isidora has been lying about the relic this entire time; the priests have it. Up next is another fast quest that you should finish right away.

A Motherless Child

Suggested: Lv51

Reward: 8000XP

Isidora's interested in the relic because her mother was killed protecting the tombs. Investigate the nearby tomb to finish the quest and learn her motives.

The King of Kings (Pt. 1)

Suggested: Lv50

Reward: ---

Talk to Tahemet in her tent once more and she'll show you the scroll she was talking about. She believes that Ramesses is the pharaoh that's come back to life, although at this point it's sure to be more than just one pharaoh at work since you've defeated two so far (it wouldn't hurt to defeat another). She'll give you the scroll and you'll be off to start two more main story quests that are required to finish this one.

A Pharaoh's Shadow

Suggested: Lv50

Reward: 4000XP

A part of the quest The King of Kings. Travel to Thebes and look for Ramesses' shadow, which will appear like many others that have spawned as you've been playing the DLC. Killing it will finish the quest.

A Pharaoh's Heart and Name

Suggested: Lv50

Reward: 5000XP

To assist in putting Ramesses back in his place, you'll want to take song scrolls written about him and get a jar stopper from an old queen. Simply reach both locations shown with markers and find the items you're looking for to end the quest.

The King of Kings (Pt. 2)

Suggested: Lv50

Reward: ---

Now that the two quests below are complete, travel to the camp in the Theban Necropolis with a ridiculously long name, the House of Millions of Years of Usermaatra-Setepenra. A captain here has a treasure map leading to Ramesses' tomb. Reach the tomb when you get there, speak with Ramesses' wife, and crawl through a slit in the wall like you've done before. Talk with her again in Heb Sed and start two more quests.

A Pharaoh's Ka

Suggested: Lv50

Reward: 5000XP

Before you can put Ramesses to rest, you need to take the pharaoh's ka. Look around the middle of Heb Sed for them. One will be at the Scorpion Lair, and another at Maryannu Camp.

A Pharaoh's Hemset

Suggested: Lv50

Reward: 5000XP

For this quest, you need to free the deathless feathers from their imprisonment in the Siege of Dapur.

The King of Kings (Pt. 3)

Suggested: Lv50

Reward: 10000XP, Legendary Heavy Blunt

Now that you have both quests completed, it's time to put Ramesses to rest. Place the eyes on his throne in the Battlefield of Kadesh and get ready for a tough battle. If you've been abusing the Favor of Osiris skill, then it should play out the same way as it has for the other two pharaohs. Ramesses is a much tougher opponent than the pharaohs before him, as he's got several attacks that can crush you like a toothpick. At certain marks in his health, Ramesses will summon sandstorms to greatly reduce your vision. Focus on staying alive when this happens, because that'll be a higher priority than hitting him during these. Killing him finishes the quest.

The Curse of the Pharaohs (Pt. 3)

Suggested: Lv52

Reward: 30000XP

Back with the main-main quest once again. Now that Isidora is held accountable for the curse, return to the Temple of Karnak, which is now overrun with Anubis priests and mummies. There isn't a good way to get to her without alerting the dozen or so soldiers.

When assassinating her doesn't go as planned, run to her quarters to start an investigation. Bypass the locked door with a window near the ceiling to the right and look all over for more clues. With only one final pharaoh's tomb remaining, it would make sense that Isidora has rushed to the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Once you try to assassinate her, Tutankhamen will come forth for a fight. He fights similarly to Akhenaten, preferring a slower attack style, but he has a longer reach and is far more deadly because of it. One of his attacks can send you from full health into having only half a health bar; it goes without saying that you should focus on keeping your distance. Hopefully you have the Favor of Osiris skill by now, because firing arrows into the king is more useful for building adrenaline than it is for inflicting damage. Overpower attacks are key to winning this fight. On the bright side, it's easy to run from Tutankhamun and run circles around the arena to restore health and arrows. The only way you'll ever be able to effectively restore a different health bar is with the Overpower Fury skill, though.

With the fourth pharaoh dead for good, follow a ball of light to the exit of the Duat. Bayek will come back to life and you'll be shown the final cutscenes for the story.
