Malfunctioning Scanners

Scanner 3 not scanned won achievements upon forced scan AGAIN. :( (or maybe still, I don't know)

Scanner 3 was working all of November and December, but is once again not picking up achievements durings its routine scans. I have to manually request one to have my profile updated.

This is odd, will check scanner 3 today.

They all use the same code so it seems very peculiar that this is happening

Scanner 2 works as expected. New achievements were picked up during its automatic scans.

This is a very odd one, I can't see anything unusual in the code that would cause this just for scanner 3. I'll keep looking though!

I don't know what scanner I'm on, but it keeps saying there's 1 gamer in front of me when I request a scan and it hasn't been automatically updating. Hope you can get this fixed soon!

Edit: It failed to pick up the new achievements during its second automatic scan, so I requested a manual one. It picked them up then.

Most of my timeline just disappeared yesterday and new achievements are not showing up. Only a few from today show up, and a rescan doesn't help. ANything older than today disappeared from my feed, but my games still show stuff unlocked, but looking my my friend feed (or archive) it doesn't show up either.

Last scanned says scanner 4.

Just noticed now, thanks for moving me over to Scanner 4, it did not auto-pickup my achievs earned last night, but it does as far as I've used it, pick my achievs up with a forced scan, the auto scan however, does not always, but Scanner 3 didn't even at all pick up my achievs a lot of times, even with forced scans.

Myself I have no privacy setting or what ever cause I can think of that this happens just for me and a few of the other gamers.


I will keep you updated on further progress. But for now, it atleast seems a lot better for sure.

Oh my, it seems Scanner 4 has frozen, last scan is over 30minutes ago and I applied for a forced scan to see if it'll pickup my Zup3 achievs, but, it not is stuck on "in qeue".

Is it me being particulary unlucky with the scanners, or are you possibly currently updating them?

I signed up about 5 hours ago, but haven't been scanned yet; is that normal? When I try to request a scan it tells me there is no one in front of me, but it's been that way for hours.

let's try to get to the bottom of the auto-scans not working.

If one of you could earn an achievement and then post in here and I'll try to see why it's not getting picked up?

UPDATE:

In order to determine whether to scan someone's games when they haven't requested a scan, we have been using the last Steam Logoff time and comparing that to what we have stored. If you've logged off more recently than we have stored, we will scan your games even if you haven't requested it.

This is all very well, but if you leave your steam account logged in somewhere, you never log off and so we don't automatically scan your games.

We've just made some key changes to this logic.

As well as the above, we will also check your recent games if:

1. You are a Pro Account holder and we haven't scanned you for 8 hours (so your games will be scanned three times per day)
2. You are not a Pro Account holder but you have been on TSA in the last week and not been scanned for 1 day (they will be scanned once per day)
3. You are registered but you haven't been on the site for over a week and not been scanned for 3 days (they will be scanned twice per week)
4. You are not registered on TSA and haven't been scanned for 2 weeks (they will be scanned twice per month)

We think this is a good compromise and should result in regular and pro users getting their games scanned automatically much more frequently.

Note: These times are not set in stone, we may well adjust them once we've seen the impact on scanning levels.

Scanner 2 seems to be dead =(

I think this is the correct thread for this. Lately I'm noticing that my achievements are only picked up if I do a forced scan. This has been going on for a while where I'll get achievements on one day and the next morning I'll see that the scanner ran but no achievements appear in my feed. I do a forced scan and the achievements appear. I got an achievement this morning and just noticed that the scanner ran but nothing new showed in my feed - did a forced scan and the achievement now shows. I check the scanner and my gamertag appears twice in a row - once at 16:46 for 0 seconds with no achievements, immediately followed at 16:52 (when I did the forced scan) for 9 seconds and 1 achievement.

Not sure what is going on with that but figured I'd post it. I'm on TSA Scanner 1.
