Copied over from from my Penitentiary guide.

The jailor is the most important town role, other than mayor. The jailor can essentially perform the role of vigilante, doctor, and investigator all by themself. This is a unique role, meaning there can only be one in any given match. Thus, if you want to be able to win as jailor, you can't rely on your teammates to do it without you.

This achievement is part of a set of that involves winning a certain number of games as the jailor. The other achievements are:

Town of SalemPrison WardenThe Prison Warden achievement in Town of Salem worth 12 pointsWin your first game as a Jailor

Town of SalemLocked UpThe Locked Up achievement in Town of Salem worth 29 pointsWin 10 games as a Jailor

Town of SalemPenitentiaryThe Penitentiary achievement in Town of Salem worth 52 pointsWin 25 games as a Jailor

The first thing you need to decide is what game mode you want to get this achievement in.

    Ranked

This mode should be the easiest to win as jailor if you are good with the role, as the town members you are playing with tend to be more experienced which helps you distinguish them from the non town roles. The townies won't won't randomly lynch you like in the casual modes, and have a better chance of winning even if you are killed. There is also guaranteed to be a jailor in every match. However, there are some drawbacks. You need to have unlocked ranked by playing 50 games, and it generally takes a little longer to get placed into a match. But probably the biggest downside to it is that you can't use scrolls, which means if you are going for specifically this achievement, you need to tolerate getting non jailor roles often. This should be fine if you are going for all of the game's achievements, but if for some reason you only want the jailor ones, you shouldn't do ranked.

    Classic

Classic mode is an alright choice if you want to rush this achievement by using a jailor scroll. This is an alright choice because there will always be a jailor in classic, and with a scroll you have a very good chance of getting it. The problem with classic is that most people that play it are new and are generally bad at the game. This makes it hard to use your skill as a jailor to differentiate between people that are lying and new players that don't know what they are doing. You also will find a high amount of gamethrowers and gimmicky accounts here. Personally, I find it to be more hassle than it's worth.

    Custom

Custom mode is the last decent choice for this achievement. You can use a scroll to increase you chance of getting jailor. However, custom doesn't necessarily have a jailor in a match. If a match doesn't have jailor, vote to repick host with "/repick." If that doesn't work, then leave before it starts and search again. Eventually you'll find a decent match. Try to go for one where town members have a chance. If there are more than 6 roles that are mafia or neutral killing, repick host or leave the match.

    Strategy for jailor

First rule of playing a town member in Town of Salem: Always have a descriptive will. As a jailor, you should start with "YourUserName the jailor" to prevent disguisers from taking advantage of you. Next, follow it with "N1: PersonJailed claims RoleClaimed." Do this for every night. Make sure you edit your will at night before the next day starts, in case you are killed. At the bottom of your will, you are free to put any comments about the game (people you know are innocent, who should be hanged, etc).

When playing the jailor, make sure to jail someone every night. This includes the first night. Start the day off with selecting someone to jail, and change it later on to meet your needs. Doing this will save you from situations when you forget to select someone (it happens more often then you'd think).

After jailing someone, during the night, always ask them their roles. Pay attention to the role list. If trusted people already occupy slots the person claims, then execute them. If someone claims a mafia role, or a non-benign neutral role, execute them. If you are playing on ranked, and they don't have a will on night 2, then execute them. Whenever executing them, put the reason in your death note. No one likes jailors that randomly kill people for no reason.

You can also employ the strategy of asking people questions like "what is the 5th word in your goal" or "what is the 2nd word in your 3rd attribute." This is sometimes frowned upon by the ToS community. Make sure you verify their answer through the Town of Salem Wiki. This does not prove their innocence, as they themselves could also be looking it up.

Whenever someone reveals themself to be the mayor, jail them to protect them, unless the mayor says otherwise. Make sure you tell them your name while jailing them, so you can trust each other. Because of this trust, always tell the mayor anything as soon as you know it. You need to keep them in the know. While jailing the mayor, if you or the mayor know a verified doctor/bodyguard, have them protect you each night, making further strides to keep the mayor safe.

When you jail someone, and you don't completely trust them, give them a code, like "1221." Then, if you get put up for lynching, you can say the code, so the person you jailed can verify that you are indeed the jailor. Make sure it is unique for each person, so someone can't take your code and claim to be jailor if you are cleaned.

Some jailors prefer to execute people that claim neutral benign roles. This won't prevent you from continuing to do executions like if you kill a townie, and neutral benigns are often covers for more antagonistic roles. This practice is also sometimes frowned upon by the community.

If you have any ideas on how I can improve this solution, I'd love to hear them! There may be something that isn't here that should be, or an easier way of doing this. I'm always open to suggestions. If you notice any typos or poorly phrased sentences, please let me know.
