The Engineers are the floating cyborg creatures that give the Covenant units a shield (the units glow a pinkish colour and take a lot of damage to break), and take about 5-8 shots from a DMR to kill. They appear a few times throughout the Halo Reach Campaign, particularly New Alexandria, and thus this achievement can also be completed by playing Halo Reach.
