2. AER - Memories of Old General Hints & Tips

Welcome to the world of AER.

You play as Auk, a shapeshifter who journeys through the broken lands of the Old Gods. The Old Gods have mostly been forgotten, save for a few, and it's up to Auk to save them from a dark evil that threatens the world.

The land is now broken up, with floating islands scattered all over, and you are bound by no rules, which means you can go off and explore to your hearts content. The history and lore of your world is explored using large stone tablets placed all over your broken world. (I personally loved finding as much history as possible, although there are no achievements really related to finding/reading all of these)

As Auk, you can seamlessly shapeshift from your human form into a bird, allowing you soar the skies. You have free access of the map and have no limits as soon as you leave the cave the game starts in.

There aren't really any specific tips for this game. Most of the puzzles in the main storyline are straightforward and require a bit of jumping about to reach certain areas, but otherwise aren't all that difficult. Also, do feel free to ignore the guide and explore around on your own, I loved playing this game and enjoyed just casually flying around the area and visiting many of the small little islands that you can visit.

14 of the achievements are obtained for just flying around to different landmarks that you can access as soon as you leave the cave you initially start in. I'll fly us around those first. There is one missable achievement, Hide and Seek, but following this guide, you should be just fine. (I actually missed it on my first playthrough, so had to restart the game just to get it!)

If you decide to go at this game on your own, make sure you pay attention to what the few NPC's in game actually say as they are your only real direction as to where to go without flying off on your own and getting lucky. Also, changing back from a bird into a human is easy, but landing can be tricky at times. The animation seems to throw you forward a little bit and your momentum also plays its part in throwing you forward. It’s easy enough to transform back into a bird and get back to where you intended if you fly off too far though.
